First Sunday of the football year is finally here. Would the Dolphins/Jets thread go in here or would it go in the Brett the Jet Thread? Or is it worthy of its own thread?

Here in SWFL we've got TB/NO and of course NYJ/MIA.

I have a lot of respect for Tom Jackson as a commentator and as a man. He brings experienced insight and is a mature individual.

I do, however, have to respectfully disagree with his prediction of the Lions winning the NFC-North. With their current ownership and the misguided direction by their GM, they are destined for the bottom of the NFC-North for years to come, IMO.

I agree. Jackson's NFL experience doesn't qualify to speak about fan expectations any more than any of us here. I think these guys get a little full of themselves, and presume to speak for a lot of people based on their own intuition about an issue. He's much more qualified to break down X's and O's, and talk about locker room issues.

Dude, this is a forum full of Packer fans and they say the packers go all the way....no need to try again. By the way, we are not conducting a gallup poll....you say the fans don't expect a superbowl but listening to the people here, that isn't true. Now did we poll every fan of the team? No...again, this very site you are posting on agrees with Tom Jackson. That's my point.

They do look good. Barber kicked ass for the Gophers but Maroney was better.....not so sure in the NFL.

Well the Browns just lost. 28-7 with 10 minutes left and they run out the FG team.

28-10. In the games that I've watched today, there's been some really bad coaching decisions. Is that the new trend?

That was just terrible by Romeo. It was only 4th and 3. Should have gone for it.

It's like Ned Yost......nobody sees the genius of the decision except for the coach himself.

Good came going down in Cali between the Chargers and the Panthers. Chargers are in the lead 24-19 after two straight TDs. About 2 minutes left, Panthers driving to win the game.

Chargers start the season slow. Did it last season as well.

If I'm a Chargers fan I'd feel pretty crappy all the time, except for the off-season of course. They're a tease. Always talking about how this will be their year and then they screw-up in the playoffs. Media loves to hype 'em up and they don't really warrant the hype. Kinda like the AFC equivalent of the Cardinals.

Risky pick. He is a converted FB..who loses PT to King since he isn't as good of a blocker.

Except the Chargers are almost always IN the playoffs and the Cardinals almost always are OUT. 8-)
