This is going to be a great game. Not only am I excited to watch Brett play, but it's going to be a highly emotional game with Pennington playing the team who ousted him!!

I don't know what round he went in ours. The 10th, I think? 007 picked him and then I took Rodgers after that.

I've got Brett Favre on my FF team. I also have Ryan Grant, Greg Jennings, B-Jackson, and Mason Crosby. I'm sitting Favre today, though, to start Tony Romo. Romo should have a field day against the weakest secondary in the NFL, the Browns.

This week Im starting Kitna over A-rod in both leagues(yea yea I know, Kitna......I think he'll have a big fantasy year)

Jim Nantz and Phil Simms, which I think is their #1 game crew (that is, for their biggest audience).
Here's a terrific website that shows what games will be on where and who will broadcast them (I posted about it last year, too):
http://the506.com/nflmaps/

Unfortunately here in Maine, we get the Patriots-Chiefs game. Wow, what a matchup.

I must be the only person on this forum - that has posted in this thread so far - that isn't overly interested in the Jets game. I hope Brett has a nice season and doesn't get injured but other than that I really don't care about that team - or any other outside of Wisconsin. My hubby will have the game on but I'll probably play around here on line and catch the score every once in a while.

I'm interested in the game. I won't be partial to either team, however. If Brett bombs I'm cool, if he leads them to victory I'm cool.

Actually, I have the Jets in the Survival League, so go Jets. Ultimate scenario is Jets win with Brett throwing 3 INTs and Thomas Jones getting 200 yards.

Okay, this may be a weird way of thinking of it, but...wouldn't it ease some pressure on Rodgers if Favre does NOT have a brilliant couple of games out of the gate? I'd also think it was kinda funny if Chad Pennington put up big numbers against the team that let him go.

I'm leaning towards that as well. Not a tremendous 10 TD, 20 INT fail. Just not numbers that are like "OMG WHY DID TED TRADE HIM!"

Heat index for the game at 97 degrees. Yikes. That's Florida for you.

And nothing is lamer than football being played on field where a baseball diamond is present.

And we get a measly 4th round pick. No, I hope the Jets do well despite the level of Favre's play. For Favre himself, my only wish is he does not get hurt. He plays half the offensive snaps this year and the pick goes up to a 3rd at least, so staying healthy is the first important thing to me. Other than that, all of the criteria are based on how the team does. So beyond staying healthy, I cheer for the Jets to do well but could really care less how Favre does. It's all about what best benefits the Packers, nothing more.

if he plays well later this year, that's not such a problem, but it's going to be a firestorm in Green Bay if he plays well the first two weeks before A-Rod gets a chance to get settled. A settled A-ROD is the best thing for the Packers IMO.

WHAT AN AWESOME PLAY!!
ONLY FAVRE CAN PULL SOMETHING LIKE THAT OFF
JUST FUCKN GREAT
WWWOOOOHOOOO

Really. I don't know, maybe Brady or Manning could pull it off. I could be reaching though.

We ran plays like that in high school. I know a few guys who never made it to the NFL that could pull that off. It was a great play, to be sure, but it wasn't unique to Favre in the least.

I was being sarcastic. I didn't want to make a list so I just picked two good ones who can make just about any play.

Man Favre is awesome, he really make the Jets a very good shot for play-offs and possible super bowl this year.

Are you aware of who else plays in the AFC? He's not even the best QB in his division anymore. No, the Jets really have little shot at a SB this year. They have slightly better chances this year than last, but the other teams in the AFC haven't changed much and there's quite a few still better than the Jets.

No he wasn't. Mandarich was a first overall pick, selected before several eventual hall of famers - most notably Barry Sanders. Harrell was a middle round pick who still has time to bounce back and make a career for himself, and I don't see any Barry Sanders' picked behind him. The two aren't even comparable in the least.

score at half:

BF 1
TT 0

i disagree

brett has looked okay, but he is playing one of the worst team in the leagues... i don't think his performance today would hold up against most others

QFT

they are playing the DOLHPINS. that went freakin 1-15 last year

Whom also have a player that virtually knows the entire Jets playbook. That isn't to their advantage at all.

no offense GBRulz, but i disagree - teams have tons of game tape to watch, and players switch teams all the time, especially right up to opening day when cuts occur. it may be a little help to the dolphins, but nothing that would swing the game

What if Rodgers plays well and the Packers win? :?:

Then all is good of course..

i'm thinking about giving rodgers 3 games before i switch to being a jets fan[/quote]

Eh we'll see what happens. I'm Favre fan no matter what, but it's going to hurt a lot more if Arod stinks up the joint.

That's cool, Falco. I just have a differing opinion. I'm not saying enough to swing a game, but if the Fins know some of the Jets playbook, it's certainly to their advantage.

I agree that it will be very interesting to see them matchup against NE, though.

Really tho, on that 4th down play, how many qb's have the presence of mind to know that by throwing it up is just as good as a punt if it gets pick, STATS BE DAMNED.

i would hope all of them - i'm sure some rookies in that situation will panic and take the sack / throw it away, but any vet would do the same

It was an awesome play...but come on, Gex...you gotta admit when he chucked that pass up there you were thinking "oh no, here we go again" !! lol.

His ability to escape the rush and get the pass off was what was more incredible IMO

Probably not. Credit to Favre on it, certainly.

Yea, but it was 4th and long. the decision had already been made to go for it.I've seen many a QB wait and wait and then take a sack instead of risking their stats.

He also realized that the ball would be turned over on the 35 (I think) so, of course you chuck it in the end zone. Like I said, I was more impressed by his ability to get the pass off to begin with.
