This is a game the Packers should be able to run the ball. The Lions are extremely undersized up front and in their LB corp.

This could be a game where the Packers run, run, pass. Run, run, pass. Eventually Rodgers will see a defense he likes and hit one of his WR's deep to break open the game.

On defense I think this might be a good time to rest Woodsons toe. It's supposed to take 4-6 weeks to heal a broken bone. It's a tough decision right now. Do you play him all season with the pain and practice distraction or do you bite the bullet so you have late in the year when it counts? I'd bit the bullet now, while Tramon and Harris are healthy. The Lions do have a couple of fast and physical WR's along with a QB that can get them the ball but their running game is almost non existant and their pass protection is spotty. Tehy should have a hard time moving the ball on any defense so ours should be no different.

The ST's should, again, be special. They're not just good at returns, they're good at everything.

This is a W

This should be a win, but there are some variables. If Woodson can't go, can Tramon Willams stay with Roy Williams or Calvin Johnson? Packers should be able to run the ball, but how healthy is Grant? Might be a chance for Jackson to show he can be the backup, or could be a real opportunity for Lumpkin. I look for Driver to have a big game today.

Finally...the Sunday noon games begin!! I don't think the Lions will be a gimme. Especially after their ass whopping last week. Plus, you know how many times we've played like crap in Detroit!! Anything goes when you play a division rival !!

From packers.com

LAST MEETING, IN DETROIT
Nov. 22, 2007, at Ford Field; Packers won, 37-26.

-Brett Favre established a franchise record with 20 consecutive completions and finished with 381 yards and three touchdowns in victory as Green Bay matched its best start (10-1) since 1929.

-The Packers fell behind early, 6-0, before Favre found Greg Jennings for an 11-yard score and Ryan Grant capped an 80-yard drive with a 5-yard TD plunge.

-In the midst of hitting 20 consecutive passes, Favre tossed two more scores, another to Jennings and one to Ruvell Martin, as the Packers built a commanding 34-12 lead.

-The Lions began the fourth quarter with two long scoring drives to pull within eight points.

-Green Bay responded with a 10-play, 72-yard drive that took nearly five minutes off the clock. Mason Crosby's 26-yard field goal ensured the Thanksgiving day win.

If there's a week to pick the Packers in the Survival League, this is a good one.

I think we will (and definitely should) win by 10+.

Packers are -3 in vegas and online so you gotta lay points.

That being said, rest nobody that can go. This is a very important early game against a division foe. You don't want to head into dallas 1-1 feeling a lot of pressure to win. Win this game, play everyone and reassess for dallas. If we are 2-0 its a lot easier to rest guys, it also lets the team possibly lose that game without feeling bad..."well, grant and woodson were out, we can beat them in the playoffs".

This is the regular season, if guys can go, they play. Bye weeks are for rest.

RashanGary
09-14-2008, 10:40 AM
Woodson needs more than a bye week. He needs 5 good weeks to heal. If he doesn't let it heal he won't be able to practice for the rest of the year. I'd rather get him right, now, when we have a healthy Al and Tramon.

I'm hoping for a matchup of two undefeated teams next week in Green Bay. 2-0 Dallas and 2-0 Green Bay. That'll be a great game.

BUT we need Chuck healthy for that game. And Grant. Don't wear out your big guns against the Lions.

CaliforniaCheez

If Grant and Jackson were healthy in the backfield I would feel better about the game. On the other hand if there was ever a game to play Lumpkin a lot this is the one.

Lumpkin 100+ yards would help rest the other 2.

Looks like an away jersey then. Maybe you'll get that signed too!

I don't want it signed though. I want to wear it! I think I'll go with a white one because if I want to wear a home jersey, I can wear #4 !

Wow - Aaron is accurate, confident and looks like he's enjoying himself out there (you would too if you had a 3 TD half following a thrilling Monday night victory).

I think he got a little too confident on the last 3rd down - he looked like he had other options (including a blocker if he wanted to run).
