Why cant we play against a 3-4? Is it really so foreign to our team that we're powerless against it?

YES

Another chance for our offense to get killed :flag:

For as well as Jenkins was doing at the beginning of the game, he sure has been doing a lot of flopping around on the ground in the backfield in the second half.

I hope the Bigby/Collins bashing stops soon. Rouse is an idiot.

Collins gave up the long pass that made it 20-9. In his defense no db can cover when you run the same defense every play. I used to hate Fritz Shurmer because he would stubbornly rush 4 but at least he had Reggie White and adjusted when he couldn't get pressure.

Why the hell do the Packers light it up when they're down 18 with a few minutes to go? Damn..woulda been nice in the previous 3 quarters.

Iron Mike
09-21-2008, 10:11 PM
Tonight the concern is pass pro on blitzes, Tony Moll and Rodgers bailing on pressure too fast.

I hate to bring it up, but with our OL, how many picks do you think Ole #4 would have thrown tonight???

I dunno. How many TD's do you think #4 would have thrown?

Just playing Devil's advocate there. :P

Yep, the run game is low on the list of concerns after tonight.
Yea, but the play calling might be, like why we didnt run more?

They did try and run more in the second half. All it did was run down the clock, even though they had some success.

I think their best strategy in the 2nd half would have been to go to the no-huddle offense and spread the field. Probably it would not have worked, but that might have been their best chance.

you're right, it wasn't exactly a case of the recievers dropping easy catches. But Rodgers seemed to be just missing his recievers all night, they were not in a good rhythm. A lot of balls sailing off finger tips.

Rodgers generally had enough time to throw, the O-line wasn't getting killed. Romo had all day too often.

I've watched it again, the pass was low but very catchable, right in his hands. Jones screwed up the two balls that were thrown to him.

no. break-out some of the Packer games against the Vikings in the dome to see a brutal offensive line. John Randall era.

The offensive line had a rough time, the defensive line was better. Rodgers never had a LOT of time to get comfortable. But it was not a blow out.

Rodgers did a poor job of buying time in the pocket tonight. He was too quick to flee to the outside and more often than not got caught by the fast Dallas ends. He needed to step up or get rid of the ball faster on several occasions. But those movements aren't second nature to him yet, it will come.

And for the first time in a while, since Dallas last year perhaps, we run blocked better than we pass blocked.

I really think that's attributed to the 3-4 D. I don't think our guys know what to do with a NT lined up directly over the center and the ends are between the guards and tackles.

gbgary
09-21-2008, 11:03 PM
we're two and one. no biggie. a loss against the class of the nfc. the season is long and they're still trying to find out what works and doesn't work. everyone will learn from this game. a little less shotgun, a little more protection, take what the D gives you. our D did pretty well considering how much they were on the field. no serious injuries i believe.

Partial
09-21-2008, 11:27 PM
Well, defensively it was about all you can ask them to do. They were gased by the end from playing almost the entire half.

Playcalling left a lot to be desired. Why not take a shot deep? 3.5 minute drive at the end? WTF was that? Hamlin is far from a ballhawk and Williams is out. Take a shot and test them vertically.

Aaron Rodgers showed that he is tough tonight. He laid a nice block on Driver's ballyhoo, and took some shots. However, either the coverage was absolutely excellent or he isn't taking any chances or he isn't reading the field fast enough.

Bad game all around. Defensively we did well.
