Interesting article............altho this sent up a red flag, for me. IF McCain were to be elected and IF anything were to happen to him......would heads of foreign countries be so obliging with Ms Palin? Would SHE be ready on day 1....or 2? I don't know, but seems to me that someone running for VP should be able to hold their own.

"McCain advisers said they had been concerned that a loose format could leave Ms. Palin, a relatively inexperienced debater, at a disadvantage and largely on the defensive. "

"McCain advisers said they were only somewhat concerned about Ms. Palin’s debating skills compared with those of Mr. Biden, who has served six terms in the Senate, or about his chances of tripping her up. Instead, they say, they wanted Ms. Palin to have opportunities to present Mr. McCain’s positions, rather than spending time talking about her experience or playing defense. "

I'm not worried about Mr. McCain's positions in this debate. I want to know what SHE thinks.

I think when Obama meets up with a former head of the KGB his lavish education and community organizing would be very useful in him not being intimidated. Much more useful than spending 5 years as a prisoner of war and being tortured daily.....oh yea, we are talking about VP's aren't we?

Why is everybody concerned that the VP "might" not be ready to govern on Day 1, ignoring her two years of leading Alaska, yet those same people are UNCONCERNED that the PRESIDENT of the other party has only supervised his CAMPAIGN staff and has never run even a mini-mart?

I just don't understand. This is a non-starter for anyone who has and uses their brain.

The Obama inexperience thing is getting tiresome. He has plenty of experience

1) Dealing with terrorists - He has a long-term relationship with Weatherman Bill Ayers, working on the board of the Annenberg challenge in Chicago to reform teaching.

2) dealing with radical religious extremists - This one is sort of 50-50. Even though Obama was in the Trinity Church with Reverend Wright for 20 years, presumably he never read the newsletter, never gave any money for the drive to fund mideastern terrorist groups, and never heard the good reverend damn America. So he can deal with radical religious freaks, but only if he doesn't know they are freaks.

3) He is strong on the economy - he can handle large sums of money. Reportedly Obama sent at least 50 million of Annenberg money to the control of Aforementioned terrorist Bill Ayers as part of being chair of the Annenberg board. So he knows what a lot of tax money looks like, and what it looks like headed out the door to be used to subvert Chicago public school principals with a radical agenda.

I guess that was my point above....but I tried to be subtle.

At least can both commiserate about the good old days of authoritarian rule - Putin in the Soviet Union and Obama at Harvard and in Chicago- and chuckle about how each is pushing for a return of the glory days of communism/socialism in their respective countries.

Maybe he will just stare into his eyes and determine he is a good person. Seems to have worked for the last president.

The REALLY scary scenario is this:

The MOST LIKELY cause of death for any of the big four is--IMO--Obama getting assassinated--far more likely than McCain just kicking off. Then you have Biden who is 65 with a medical history dominated by an aneurism--again, a FAR more likely cause of short term death than anything that afflicts McCain. Then what do we have? the horrendous thought of President Nancy Pelosi--who combines total incompetence with abject EVIL.

On the extremely unlikely prospect that McCain did die, Palin would be an absolutely magnificent president from the point of view of good normal America-loving Americans--from the P.O.V. of God damned elitist leftist America-haters? Not so much.

As for the subject of the thread title, The Debates, just like in '04 and 2000, maybe even more so this time, the debates will be the DOWNFALL of the party that is so sickly OUT OF TUNE with the views and values of the vast majority of the American people. And on top of that, you have the fact that whenever Obama gets away from his teleprompter--as he necessarily will in a debate, he stumbles and bumbles ten times worse than Bush ever did. And if that still isn't enough, for the first time probably in history, we will have a VP Debate that means something, as Sarah Palin charismatically articulates her pristine pro-American views, while Biden puts people to sleep if hes's lucky, or thoroughly turns them off with his discredited liberal crap if listeners stay awake.

If you don't believe it, lefties, well, just keep on not believing it, and you'll get the same shock you got the last two times on election day--when the people speak with their votes.

Maybe you could give me lessons, that's not my strong suit.
