Packers Sign Draft Pick Tollefson
posted 06/23/2006
Finalizing contract terms with a 2006 draft choice for the first time this off season, the Green Bay Packers Friday signed defensive end Dave Tollefson. Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations, announced the signing.
Tollefson, a 6-foot-4, 255-pound player from Northwest Missouri State, was the last of a league-high 12 players selected by the Packers in the April draft, a seventh-round, compensatory choice (253rd overall).
A Division II All-American and a finalist for the Gene Upshaw Award, given to the top lineman among small schools, he registered 121/2 sacks in 2005, breaking his school's single-season record. He played just two seasons of college football, and in 26 games, he posted 106 tackles (57 solo), 291/2 tackles for loss, 21 sacks and six passes broken up.
