This deal with calling Romo and not Rodgers was minor, I didn't find that too big of a deal. But this report about Favre calling the Lions and gameplanning for them? I'm sorry, that's just ridiculous.

Didn't Favre (or his wife) write a book called "Don't Bet Against Me"?
I did - picked the Raiders to upset the Jets - and won a bundle in my pool.
The game should have ended in oh-so-typical Favre fashion when he lobbed a gift to Michael Huff, but Huff dropped it.
I remained patient, and was finally handsomely rewarded.
Thank you!

A couple years ago he was talking about a coffee/book shop. Don't know if that holds or not. I also thought he was a teacher. Can you imagine wandering into class the first day and finding your new teacher, Mr. Holmgren?

He doesn't strike me as a coffee shop/bookstore kind of guy. I can imagine thumbing through one of the books, and him walking up with his red face and ask, "You planning on paying for that?"

As familiar as Favre's laser shots through defenders to the waiting receiver, yes. It's part of that Favre package. Lots of defenders seem to drop his gifts. I wonder if all db's have not-such-good hands, or if there's something about Favre's ducks and errant throws.

Wow, Buffalo getting beat by Cleveland w/ 4 min. left.

Nothing against what Brett has done, but there are a lot of AFC East teams that aren't as good as their record. The AFC East got to play the worst division in the AFC (AFC West) and the worst division in the NFC (NFC West). The AFC East is a combined 15-5 against the NFC West and AFC West. The AFC East teams are obviously splitting their games, for the most part, and then beating up those other two divisions. Of the eight teams in those two divisions, only two have a winning record, and Arizona is 7-3 in large part because they are 4-0 against the rest of the NFC West. The four teams in AFC East are all over .500, and yet the division only has won three games against a team with a record better than 4-6 outside of the division (New England and Miami beat Denver and the Jets beat Arizona).

To put that into perspective, the NFC North doesn't have a team above .500, but they've beaten 5 teams combined with a .500 record or above (Green Bay and Chicago over Indianapolis, Chicago over Philadelphia, Minnesota over New Orleans and Carolina).

Maybe. But we all know records and stats mean nothing if a team gets hot/momentum at the right time of the season. Never know what will happen...that's why they play the games!

Right, but it's more likely that whomever makes the playoffs will get exposed by better teams. Then again, in the AFC there aren't that many great teams. New England would probably still be dangerous in the playoffs--with their experience. The tide sure has turned towards the NFC the last two years.

Anytime you do a fair catch on a kick, you can elect to do an uncontested free kick from the fair catch spot.

That's why Rackers tried the 68 yard free kick. Whisenhunt at least, knows his rulebook better than McNabb...

The Arizona Cardinals attempted a rare free-kick field goal during their 37-29 loss to the New York Giants. Just as Donovan McNabb didn't know that NFL games could end in a tie, many fans didn't know that such a thing as a free kick in the NFL even existed.

Here's what happened. With seconds left in the first half, the Giants punted the ball to the Cardinals who signaled for a fair catch. According to NFL rules, a team is allowed a "free kick" field goal attempt after a fair catch. In this case, Cardinals kicker Neil Rackers lined up to attempt a 68-yard free-kick field goal. Unlike regular field goal attempts, there are no time limits to free kick field goals, the ball is not snapped to a holder and the opposing team is not allowed to rush the kicker.

It's a play that seems more at home in a rugby game than a North American football game and one that left fans scratching their heads. The play is rarely used since punts that are usually called for a fair catch are usually so far down the field that most teams wouldn't bother to attempt a field goal.

In this game, however, the Cardinals gave it a try and failed. The last time a kicker successfully completed a field goal free kick was in 1968.

It didn't say if it was a Packer/Bear game, but I could swear they said that during the game today.

If the Saints finally get their defense together in the next 2-3 years they could very well be a Superbowl team. If they shore up their D-line, and it looks like they might have during the draft, all they are lacking are some quality DB's and depth.

What a shitty way for that game to end. Hate to see the deciding factor in a game be a 40 yard pass interference call. It was the right call but still, 40 yards for a Bear offense that had struggled as much as it had.

Yea, the Olsen one was a pretty good mugging. I dunno, I just hate to see games decided by the refs. I lean more towards giving the defense some leeway at the end of games.

I love great defensive struggles. I get to watch the Ravens and Steelers after watching the Titans lose to the Texans 13-12 in a great game. I really wish the Pack would switch to a 3-4 and have a dominating defense. I thought they were on their way, but this defense is just disgusting. Championships are won with great defense.

14-0 and Vikings on the 20, They've really learned how to jump out to a lead fast haven't they?

Red, Kevin would be a full fledged disaster...to be honest, Fred Evans is really playing well spelling Pat Williams often. Kevin Williams cannot be replaced.

Also, who the fuck kidnapped Tarvaris Jackson and who is this imposter?

Yea, could very well be. He's really playing well two games in a row. I suspect it's not him and someone else is wearing a Jackson mask.

allen seems pretty banged up, i've seen him limping a few times today

maybe they should rest him up for the playoffs

It's hard to keep him off the field....he's become a real leader by example for this defense. I really do understand your point though. This game isn't over quite yet.
