WEEK 9 - THE PACKERS GET TO KNOCK OFF THE UNDEFEATED TITANS!!!! :D

Did you know....

The Titans are the series leader, 5-4

The Titans have come out on top in the past two matchups, including a 48-27 win on Monday Night Football in 2004.
(ugh, I was at that game :( best seat I ever had at Lambeau too...45 yard line, row 17)

Now on to the good stuff...

**Rodgers is going for his fourth consecutive game with a 100-plus passer rating.

**Nick Collins and Charles Woodson each have four interceptions, two apiece returned for touchdowns.

**The Packers have won nine of their past 12 following byes, including both games under Mike McCarthy. Overall, they're 15-6 following byes.

**Green Bay has a league-high 13 interceptions, one more than Tennessee.

Go Packers! I'm pumped. I hope Bigby and Al are ready to play. The Packers need to win to prove they're a top NFL team.

My kid has a soccer game that starts at the same time as the game and, of course this is the game they pick to play locally since the Redskins play tomorrow night. Since I don't buy local channels, I can't tivo and will have to use the VCR. I'm not sure I remember how to program one of these things...can someone take notes for me in case I do it wrong? (always gotta have a backup plan 8-) ).

The other school of thought is that if you drink some water before you go to bed and a whole lot of water when you wake up, the hangover (which typically is more dehydration than anything) will be more tolerable.

(also don't mix ibuprofen and alcohol)

Things are actually settling down for me on the domestic/divorce front so I actually plan on sitting down and watching the game today... really haven't relaxed and watched a full game "Packer Sunday" style in a couple of years.

I'll be watching the Haynesworth vs Wells/Colledge match up... fully excpet Wells and Colledge to be deposited into Rodgers's lap on a regular basis. To counter that, I expect the Packers to try to run wide a lot, stretch plays, get Haynesworth running laterally, try to tire him out as the game wears on. Don't think it will work though, the Packers simply aren't good enough up front.

On defense, their OL vs our DL... the Packers last two opponents have been finesse teams. Tennessee is a power team - even with a backup QB, I expect them to run the ball pretty effectively against the Packers.

For the Packers, this game will be lost in the trenches.

I don't think they can win in the trenches, but I think they can win by spreading them out on offense and keeping Bigby in the box to slow the Tenn rushing attack.

I am surprised at Jones being inactive. I thought he was fully recovered and that Nelson was iffy due to his ankle. I almost expected to see Nelson inactive. I hope he is recovered. If Nelson is limited, and Bishop and Lansanah both inactive, we might see more of Jermichael Finley, and that has not been a good thing so far this year, either on offense or on ST. He could show up on both today.

Another interesting situation, only four linebackers active.
Also just two running backs.

The third QB is almost always listed as a game day inactive, but designated as third QB. He does not count as one of the 45 active players, but does suit up. If he comes into the game, the other two QBs can not play after that.

The members of the "Jordy Rules, Jones Sucks Club" are not surprised. We saw this coming, Nelsen gets on the field with his gritty character, Jones drops the ball, again.

My point is the ball should have never gone airborne. It was a shitty playcall because it should have been a run. You have to establish that your run game can get one yard anytime you need one yard. That should have been a call to Korey Hall up the gut or a stretch play for Grant. It's being too finesse, as many have recently noted about this offense.

Titans winning at the line. I don't argue with the call - Titans started the previous drive around 33 anyways. Getting those first points are the most important - to just get relaxed/etc.

I wonder if Al coming back is actually going to be good for the Packers - who knows how healthy he really is (and what is the risk of reinjury). He's had two bad plays so far (that was AC's ball, getting owned on a running play). I wonder if it's just him getting back up to game speed or if it's a sign of some lowered performance.

J-Rok
11-02-2008, 12:38 PM
I mean, it IS a pretty huge play. You would think we would get better coverage than a shot of Barnett hitting the QB and a wide, shaky, horrible job by a camera that doesn't even have 51 on the screen.

It was a perfect play Finley just couldnt catch the damn ball!

On 4th down the play shouldn't have gone to Finley in the first place, that's part of it.

Great call with the matchup the Packers desired. JF needed to run a better route thus providing a better passing lane for AR.

He is an NFL player he needs to catch that ball.

There is nothing wrong with the risk but they need to call the right play. MM was too obvious because they were running right with success and the Titans took that away by overloading the strong side forcing Rodgers to call a timeout. You need to not be predictable. MM is not going against Bob Sanders. At that point MM should of punted.
