We've all been kicking the election around for a few weeks here - well, you guys have; generally, I stick to principles and don't get caught up in the game too much.

Anyway, while there seems to be unbridled joy in the black community, and delusional optimism amongst the socialist worker set and peoples on the dole, or hoping to get on the dole, there are an awful lot American's who are scared to death of an Obama presidency - and not just b/c they're "selfish" as Obama would say.

I just got done watching "Huckabee" on Fox News... outstanding program. He had on a a few business leaders, a couple of small business owners, including "Tito the Builder", and a couple of international diplomats - including Lawrence Eagleberger - who called Obama a "charlatan", thought that was worth a chuckle

Generally, all of them said they would simply batten down the hatches, and ride it out. No job creation, no economic expansion, and deal with the long term damaging social programs and spending after Obama is booted in 4 years - assuming the Obama machine doesn't do so much damage that they can effectively steal elections in perpitutiy moving forward, i.e. fairness doctrine, institutionalized fraudulent funding, institutionalized voter fraud, and all of it given cover by a complicit media.

Simply from an economic standpoint, no way can we compete in the global market place with an ever increasing tax burden on our backs. I'm starting a new job tomorrow, a good job, but am quite worried that it won't be there in 4 years under an Obama presidency. He has every intention of attacking my new company, and as such, attacking me and my job. I'm not selfish, I simply want to work, pay my bills, support my family, and be left alone.

If you work for a paycheck, you should be very concerned that it could be your company that cuts back, and it could be your job that gets cut. Corparations don't pay taxes, they past the cost on, or cut overhead, and payroll is overhead... could be your head (job) on the cutting block.

It's just math... not a pretty picture looking forward to an Obama presidency. The fact that 50% of Americans believe raising taxes will be good for the economy is telling of how far to the left our country has moved.

America is becoming increasingly collectivist. I just think sad. It's so sad to see these things happening in America.

I'm afraid that Barack is already so deep into corruption, fraud, and ties to the worst kind of people despite his alarmingly short political career that he's going to stumble his way into an impeachment in his first year and we'll be stuck with Bumble Butt Biden as our Commander in Chief for 3 years.

Of course I am also afraid that his self phophesized first three month "test" (or invitation depending on how you look at it) is going to cost America another few thousand lives.

Oh! And I am afraid that if I dare question our President's economic policies I'll have state government employees digging through my personal information.

It looks like the CNN anchors ACTUALLY believe that was a real conversation. Anyone who has done movie video and audio editing can tell (easily) that there are several different audio tracks being combined. I really would be stunned if CNN actually believed it was a real conversation. But they seemed oblivious. (the clips of Palin's words should be easy to track down and ID from other conversations). Did CNN REALLY get duped?

Maybe Bob Dole. But I think he is emotionally guarded, and rather busy - since Liz is trying to win a re-election bid.

TORONTO - Sarah Palin unwittingly took a prank call Saturday from a Canadian comedian posing as French President Nicolas Sarkozy and telling her she would make a good president someday.

"Maybe in eight years," replies a laughing Palin.

The Republican vice presidential nominee discusses politics, the perils of hunting with Vice President Dick Cheney, and Sarkozy's "beautiful wife," in a recording of the six-minute call released Saturday and set to air Monday on a Quebec radio station.

Palin campaign spokeswoman Tracey Schmitt confirmed she had received the prank call.

Sarah Palin: Meetings and controversies Photos "Governor Palin was mildly amused to learn that she had joined the ranks of heads of state, including President Sarkozy and other celebrities, in being targeted by these pranksters. C'est la vie," she said.

The call was made by a well-known Montreal comedy duo Marc-Antoine Audette and Sebastien Trudel. Known as the Masked Avengers, the two are notorious for prank calls to celebrities and heads of state.

Audette, posing as Sarkozy, speaks in an exaggerated French accent and drops ample hints that the conversation is a joke. But Palin seemingly does not pick up on them.
He tells Palin one of his favorite pastimes is hunting, also a passion of the 44-year-old Alaska governor.

"I just love killing those animals. Mmm, mmm, take away life, that is so fun," the fake Sarkozy says.

He proposes they go hunting together by helicopter, something he says he has never done.

"Well, I think we could have a lot of fun together while we're getting work done," Palin counters. "We can kill two birds with one stone that way."

The comedian jokes that they shouldn't bring Cheney along on the hunt, referring to the 2006 incident in which the vice-president shot and injured a friend while hunting quail.

"I'll be a careful shot," responds Palin.

Playing off the governor's much-mocked comment in an early television interview that she had insights into foreign policy because "you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska," the caller tells her: "You know we have a lot in common also, because ... from my house I can see Belgium."

She replies: "Well, see, we're right next door to different countries that we all need to be working with, yes."

When Audette refers to Canadian singer Steph Carse as Canada's prime minister, Palin replies: "Well, he's doing fine and yeah, when you come into a position underestimated it gives you an opportunity to prove the pundits and the critics wrong. You work that much harder." Canada's prime minister is Stephen Harper.

Palin praises Sarkozy throughout the call and also mentions his wife Carla Bruni, a model-turned-songwriter.

"You know, I look forward to working with you and getting to meet you personally and your beautiful wife," Palin says. "Oh my goodness, you've added a lot of energy to your country with that beautiful family of yours."

The Sarkozy impersonator tells Palin his wife is "so hot in bed" and then informs her that Bruni has written a song for her about Joe the Plumber entitled "Du rouge a levres sur une cochonne" — which translates as "Lipstick on a Pig."

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama derided his Republican challenger John McCain's call for change in Washington as "lipstick on a pig," days after Palin made a lipstick joke at the Republican convention. The McCain-Palin campaign then released an ad implying Obama was calling Palin a pig with that remark.

The caller asks Palin if Joe the Plumber is her husband and adds: "We have the equivalent of Joe the Plumber in France. It's called Marcel, the guy with bread under his armpit."

He also tells the Alaska governor that he loved the "documentary" made about her and referred to a pornographic film with a Palin look-alike made by Hustler founder Larry Flynt.

She answers tentatively, "Ohh, good, thank you, yes."

The callers then reveal the prank and identify themselves and their radio station.

"Ohhh, have we been pranked?" Palin asks before handing the phone to an aide who ends the call.

Obama's campaign spokesman Robert Gibbs, commenting on the prank, said: "I'm glad we check out our calls before we hand the phone to Barack Obama."

Well, wist, you see how it works? You post something thoughtful and reasonable, and instead of having the balls to confront you , the half-assed leftists in here employ a bunch of diversion and other crap straight out of Mao's Little Red Book.

As for fear, to an extent, I agree with you. However, as I have said before, America will survive all of the horrors of an Obama Administration with one glaring possible exception: TERRORIST HITS IN AMRICA that Obama is extremely much more likely to not prevent.

All of the economic/socialist stuff, all of the class warfare/wealth sharing stuff, all of the promotion of immorality on "social issues"--the gay agenda, abortion, etc., all of those things, America will snap out of/snap back from, as we have several times in past decades.

Terrorist hits, maybe not.

Not yet. This was a bad one. The editing looked clipped and the sound levels were off, but I think it was just changing recording levels. usually different sound levels are a giveaway for a cut and paste job.

I have to admit that it's beyond belief to me that the Palin staff could be so stupid as to let something like this happen.

Now, I might be wrong, but if Obama is elected purely because of his tan, things got screwed up somewhere.

And before any of you tell me it's none of my Australian/European business, well, as I've posted many times, I damned well believe it is! You are, after all, electing the leader of the free and democratic world. I am firmly entrenched in that world!

If McCain loses it will not be because of Palin. Some might say Romney would've been a better choice with the way the election became about the economy. There are a lot of things McCain could've done better.

True, but he was hoping to pick up the disenfranchised women voters (like Harlan) who wanted Hillary and that backfired on him badly. There was more to Hillary than being a female and he couldn't just plug in any female and expect it to work. Had he tried someone like Ann Richards or Condi Rice (yes I know she wouldn't run), that might have worked in his favor.

Same can be said for Joe Biden, who sticks his foot in his mouth with alarming regularity. Biden is the one who proposed Iraq be divided into 3 sections. Great... an Arab version of Yugoslavia.

Same guy who said re: Obama..."I think he can be ready, but right now I don't believe he is," (in 2007 http://www.denverpost.com/election/ci_10634783. "The presidency is not something that lends itself to on-the-job training."

I do find it puzzling that some liberals yearn for a woman as Pres/VP, just as long as she is liberal. If she's conservative, OMG! She must be the stupidest b*tch that walked the earth.

If the tried and true veteran Joe Biden gets a pass on spewing gaffes from the press then Palin should be cut a little slack also.

What is TRULY incompetent with Palin that makes some have such contempt for her? The seeing Russia comment from Alaska (re: her foreign policy experience)? Or maybe it's that nasty separatist party affliation? Puh-leeze. Biden could stick BOTH feet in his mouth with both hands tied behind his back. You wanna play that game?? Then explain Obama's relationship to Jeremiah "God damn America" Wright or Ayers. If not, stick to the issues.

Yup, she's a God-fearin', rifle totin' (probably even tobacco chewin') backwoods hick that don't know jack about the world. (probably can hear the "Dueling Banjos" theme from Deliverance now....)

Anybody who can beat a CORRUPT incumbent gov. and fight vs. her own party to get elected governor of ANY state, should be deemed worthy of at least some modicum of respect. Sadly, many dismiss her. I fault McCain and his staff for keeping her under wraps as long as they did. If McCain didn't pick Palin, it'd be like Reagan vs. Mondale 1984 in reverse. Palin is the only thing HELPING McCain stay within striking distance.

Personally, I am not as enthusiastic about McCain as I would have for someone like Huckabee or Romney. I would've voted third party in this election if McCain picked someone other than a conservative like Palin. Then again, I did that once before in '92 and I won't do that in the future unless someone truly outstanding comes from the 3rd party ranks.

If Obama wins, he will have to do one thing...lead, but from the center. If he tries enacting all sorts of left leaning legislation and the economy doesn't improve or worsens, the disillusionment in gov't will go WAY beyond what it is now. Also the Democrats would lose greatly in 2010 House/Senate races.

If McCain wins he must deliver to avoid the GOP becoming a regional party. IMO, the GOP is drifting too far from it's conservative roots. They need more of a Teddy Roosevelt type of Republican. He truly fought for the little guy & still helped the US be a world leader.
