You have to kick the FG, thats why big Mac ran it 3 times in a row, he knew if he didnt get it he would run the clock and kick the FG with panthers only having one timeout.

Woodson has a rare defensive letdown. Just let them score MM.

Fosco33
11-30-2008, 03:05 PM
So you are 2nd and goal from one and you go 2 runs for 0 yards. No play action, no rollout - both have worked before.

Then the refs blow a block in the back on like the 3rd or 4th huge kickoff return. And now this.

Typical of the season. Questionable play calls, refs making no calls, defense giving up huge plays.

UGLY.

Rastak
11-30-2008, 03:05 PM

You hold 'em twice then he scores, you lose.

You either QB sneak or pass on second down. GB just can't reliably convert short yardage other than Rodger's sneak.

This really sucks but it was completely set-up by a horrible non-call by the refs on that kick return. There was a blatantly obvious holding that wasn't called or they would have been starting around the 20. The referees have been horrible all season long.

We'll we're finding new ways to lose. This time its kick coverage. I want to puke. Not getting the TD at the goal line was huge. Snapping the ball over the QB's head was also huge. All could have been overcome if we just had average kick coverage. Stock needs to go. We've kept so many guys because they are supposedly good on specials. Hunter, Pettaway, Bush, Hall, Kuhn, Peprah, yet carolina starts at mid field after every kick. What a joke.

Kickoff Coverage Analysis

Start of the game (left to right) - below average
- Kick goes to 12, tripped up and falls to the 30

After 2nd Q FG (right to left) - poor
- Kick goes to the 3, Jones gets through the 2man wedge and gets pushed out at the 45 yard line.

After Driver TD in 2nd Q (right to left) - good
- Touchback

After 3rd Q FG (right to left) - good
- Touchback

After 3rd Q TD to tie game (right to left) - good
- Low liner, dropped by up man and driven out of bounds at 20

After 4th Q TD by Jennings (left to right) - poor
- One yard deep, good blocks, injury, 4 Packers on their asses, Finley missed tackle, Mason gets in the way and Bush finally catches Jones after a 50 yard return

After 4th Q FG (left to right) - poor
- Kick to goalline, missed block in back (I think Lee) and holding on Hall, missed tackle by Bush, Mason pushout after 45 yard return.

3 very poor coverage plays and one that was below average.

Say, does anybody know how many games the Pack has lost this year after leading with, say, five or six minutes left in the game?

The special teams were atrocious. I agree with Fred's Slacks - we kept all these guys for ST cuz they were supposedly so good on ST, but the coverage keeps getting gashed up the middle.

Fire Stock at season's end, please.

And Why can't this defense hold a lead? Is it time to jettison Vanilla Bob?

I thought our last two drafts had such am emphasis on specials

I've found my new Fraud; I'd bet they keep Vanilla Bob around for longer but if they do it will be a tragedy

Bretsky, you've been pounding the fire Vanilla Bob drum for awhile and it looks like you have new ammunition.

I'm definitely on the fire Stock bandwagon and am seriously considering joining the fire the Vanilla Bob train.

By my count, the Pack has lost 4 games in which they had a 4th quarter lead. That says all you need to know about the killer instinct of this defense. But while I'm at it... In the Packers last 3 losses, they have scored 27, 29 and 31 points. The defense hasn't even needed to be very good. They just needed to not be very terrible.

What a joke.

you hit on something i was also thinking

we did keep a lot of guys because they were better special teams players over guys that were better depth. so now our depth sucks, and our special teams sucks

i didn't like it then, when i thought we would have a good special teams, and i really hate it now

so there is absolutely no reason to keep jarrett bush on the roster, right?

The season was really over when the Packers failed to make the kick and win against the vikings.

Now the Packers have to find 2 or 3 DT's, an OT, an OG, an RB as well as the normal replacement to to attrition (Safety, DT(not redundant), CB, TE, Center).

I would not be suprised if the first round pick by Thompson is a MLB.

Surely, you cannot be suggesting that we deviate from the BPA strategy, can you? After all, thats the ONLY way to draft.

Besides we'll have 22 7th round picks to draft some positions of need. Never fear. Ted is here.
