Ok, I haven't started a gameday thread yet, and I want a shot at running out the season.

This is obviously a must win game. We are at home, we are playing an NFC foe, and we have to keep pace with the winner of the Bears/Vikes game.

Carolina has benefitted from an easy schedule this season, but the record doesn't lie. This isn't the team that started Vinny Testaverde against us last season so we have to be ready. Delhomme isn't Brees, so we should be able to exploit him in 3rd and long, maybe 2 picks could redeem the Defense a bit and make the offenses job easier.

The thing that concerns me most is that I read MM saying he was keeping them indoors because of the weather this week. Heaven forbid you might practice in the weather the game is going to be played in. Maybe the NFL will consider letting us play the game inside the Hutson center. Last season we had some real issues with the elements, time to see if they are more prepared for the frigid weather this year or not.

For me to have any faith in winning the division we have to play a clean, low penalty game. I would like to see a strong running game, and a defense that wants to make amends for that abomination on monday night. Most of us accepted that we wouldn't be a superbowl contender this season, but hopefully we can make the playoffs, win a game or 2 and show that we have reason to be optimistic for next season.

GO PACK GO!!!!

GO PACK GO!!!!This is a completely asinine statement and I get really annoyed when people say the reason the Packers lost is becuase they didn't practice outside in cold conditions. Just go back into the history of the Hutson Center and previous coaches. How many times did Mike Holmgren have his team practice in cold weather? I believe NEVER or almost never. His teams never had a problem with the cold. Mike Sherman, ditto. His teams never had a problem with the weather either. This wholepremise of having to practiice outdoors so you can play the game in it iis complete crap.

I don't recall how often they practiced outdoors under holmgren and sherman to be honest, there wasn't as much information as there is today. That being said I'm not saying it is for sure the reason we lost. But honestly in that bears game, guys were dropping easy passes, the punter couldn't handle a snap, ect. I could be way off base here, but it seems to me if you haven't PRACTICED catching the ball when its fucking frozen solid, it might be harder to do it when the time comes.

same goes for the kickers, if you don't practice kicking a frozen ball (and we all know its harder to do) then when you line up to do it, it might be difficult. probably around the 4th quarter you will have it figured out though.

Packers will win

Besides having more all around talent..........it's going to be cold and the Panthers QB is coming off Tommy John Surgery. He is not the same QB he was in the past and that was average. His arm may be jello tomorrow. With a solid QB outing the game is closer.

Even Vanilla Bob can figure out how to contain the run at home with Delhomme leading the offense.

They are overachieving, a concept foreign to the Packers

Eventually the record needs to reflect our talent

And yes, Holmgren did use the Hutson Center when it was cold. That is what it was partially built for. Coaches and players can focus better on practive and putting in the game plan better when they aren't combating the cold.

EDIT: As for Ryan and the Bears game . That could have been recified in the game if Rob Davis had acually watched how the Bears long snapper was snapping the ball. HE would have immediately realized snapping hard line drives was the way to go instead of trying to use the wind to guide it back.

Do the Packers have enough bulletin board material to get hyped and show some emotion today?

Read or watch all the major sports news.

-Who wins the NFC North ?
Bears or Vikings
After the Pack wins today, there will be two teams at 6-6 (ONE game back of first).

-Playoff scenarios ?
Packers weren't even listed as 'outside looking in'. Hmmm

-Getting your defense drummed on the road on MNF
That alone has to fire your defense up - especially with the year the secondary is having (jekyll and hyde).

-You're at home in late November vs. a Southern team

The media has counted you out. The media has called you out.

Time to show up.

I forget who asked about who else was available when Justin Harrell was taken. Harrell was the 16th pick of the first round last year. According to Wikipedia, here's the d-linemen taken after him in the first three rounds:

1st round:
17. Denver takes Jarvis Moss, DE, Florida
26. Dallas takes Anthony Spencer, DE, Purdue

2nd round:
33. Arizona takes Alan Branch, DT, Michigan
46. Pittsburgh takes LaMarr Woodley, DE, Mich.
62. (pick right before Brandon Jackson) Chicago takes Dan Bazuin, DE, Central Mich.

3rd round:
65. Oak. takes Quentin Moses, DE, UGa
83. Caro. takes Charles Johnson, DE, UGa
85. Sea. takes Brandon Mebane, DT, Cal
97. SF takes Ray McDonald, DE, Fla.

Yep. McCarthy and his crew are looking like clowns this year IMO...they rode Favre's coattails last year when he singlehandedly carried the team in the first 6-8 games...giving the entire team confidence and momentum that they carried to a great season.

In reality, McCarthy is not that good of a coach...and his choices in assistants is evidence of that. Compare Holmgren's assistants to McCarthy's...this team won't be going anywhere fast with McCarthy's clowns.

You go FROM 14-10 with the ball and likely last possession of the half (and you get the ball to start the 2nd half).

OR...
-You could punt and keep it 14-10 in the half - plus get a quick score and make it a small lead of down by FG.

-You could get a FG and have it 14-13 - with same upside.

-You could get a TD and go up 17-14 with the ball to start the half (and go up 24-14 or 20-14 or just stay 17-14).

OR - you could turn it over and give up a TD.

I said McCarthy and his staff rode Favre to their season last year...and are being exposed for their mediocrity this year as few young players are developing and the team in general looks uninspired, flat, and undisciplined.

Even with Favre, this team wasn't going 13-3 again.

These teams do not like each other. I see the tension of the Packers now consistently shitty play spilling over to grudge and wrestling matches. All that does is lose focus on your assignments and get artificially 'pumped up'.

I call that playing like the 'b-team', JV or bush league bullshit.

Does M3 have the fire in him (like the original Mike)?

Why are his 2nd half adjustments seemingly non-existent?

This team is faced with 2 options:
1. Bow out of this game and essentially the season (down 2 with 4 to go)
2. Play like you want to or should be there - get a quick TD and wipe away the fumble/TD. Go out and play for your season. (down 1 with 4 to go)

Which one will they choose?
