Oklahoma beats out Texas for the Big 12 South title. This even though Texas beat OU earlier in the season.

This is further proof of a new playoff system being needed, if the greedy univ. presidents would ever wake up......

Just a little thinking out loud.

Zero U and the burnt Organge are in a cartell of 64 other members.
It does not matter who goes where; its how many ayes show up.
The membership of the Big 12 faction of the evil cartell says the Sooners.

If one was watching the tie breaker; it was the Kansas game.
Zero U won on the tie breaker.
Them are the rules...........convaluted as they are.

Sounds like politics to me; no?

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3735383Actually this isn't the BCS's faut, its the Big 12 itself. They are the one with the tiebreak rule. They need to use the SEC's version of that tiebreak, which is its the higehst BCS ranked team, unless the second highest is within 5 places of the higest, which then reverts to head to head. With the SEC's version, Texas righty gets in.

I agree that it is stupid. Texas Tech should be in because they beat Texas head-to-head.

Have you watched any games. Oklahoma is better than Texas. They were up on Texas and the game got away on them. But the way they beat down Texas Tech and Oklahoma St should show you something.

But using logic of Texas beating OU then Texas Tech beat Texas but OU beat Texas Tech but Texas Tech beat texas but Texas beast OU.

Three way tie head to head doesn't matter when each beat each other.

But BCS is bull crap and everyone knows it. Corporate Bowls keeping the archaic system alive

Winning by 20 points is a beat down, though. Likewise, dominating tech is a beat down as well.

Those two teams should be in the B12 championship, not Mizzou. The two best teams should be imo.

They won handily. Call it what you like.

Yeah but if the BCS had sent Texas to the Big 12 championship then you have Texas Tech sitting here going, "Wait, we beat Texas." So really a playoff for the top 16 teams is needed but it will never happen.

I liked the Texas Tech coach's response. He said they should break the tie using graduation rate. Tech would be in and it wouldn't even be close.

Of course in reality that's just silly. Graduation has no place in college sports.

The truth is, it's an arbitrary system which inevitably produces an arbitrary result. Who the hell cares who the arbitrary champion is?

If you don't like the system, don't watch the games. If the ratings went down, the money would dry up. Then watch how fast they'd switch to a playoff.

True, but if the BCS didn't require one team and one team only from the Big 12 to participate in the championship process nobody would really care.

If the Big 12 arbitrarily picked OU to play in the conference title game, but all three were headed to an 8 team playoff nobody would care about the Big 12 title.

Just like nobody cares who wins the major conference hoops tournaments. The top several teams are going to the NCAA anyway, all you're really doing is tweaking the seedings unless a cinderella team wins it. The point is, the hoops tourneys are far less important because there's no chance of eliminating a legit title contender.

How true, I haven't watched a college football game in 5 years, and I haven't watched an NBA game in even longer.

If Missorui lays the smakdown on OU, Texas could benefit by not being in the title game. Texas could jump to #2. That is all that is required to get to the BCS title game. It doesn't matter if you are in the conference championship game or not. This has happened before.

The BCS is Bullshit plain and simple. A Coin Toss is a better indicator of who has the best team...

None of which makes the BCS more sensible. The only justifcation for taking Texas over Tech in this scenario is voter preference. It was about voter preference before the BCS, and buried behind a facade of complicated formulas, it still is.
