I didn't want to "taint" the Packer Forum by posting this over there.

All the idiocy and negativity about Sanders and his D scheme is very much like the negative crap about Bush and his tax cuts.

First, BOTH resulted in wonderful success--the 13-3/14-4 season and the great extended period of prosperity, even coming back from the horrible economic effects of 9/11 and the subsequent costs of the War on Terror.

Second, BOTH have been FALSELY blamed--mostly by idiots and people predisposed to other wrongheaded philosophies--for the bad times now being experienced. The injuries and assorted other aspects of bad luck for the Packers, and other economic forces--either real or contrived, and enhanced by the media blowing things way out of proportion and panicking the public, THOSE are the reasons for current problems.

Thirdly, BOTH the Packers and the American economy would be INFINITELY WORSE OFF if other strategies/philosophies had been followed. You blitz a lot, and you get burned a lot more than you are helped. Also, whether the blitzes result in sacks or not, you give up the turnovers, which have been the only thing keeping the Packers D from being a worse mess since the injuries ruined the season. You increase taxes after the devastation of 9/11--as Gore and his kind would SURELY have done, and you not only give up the great comeback and prosperity we experienced after 9/11--right up until the Dem/lib takeover of Congress in 2006, but you ruin the economy completely and drive the country down to near-third world status--which Gore probably would have enjoyed, as he could have then rammed through rotten Dem/lib agenda of socialism and wacko environmentalist crap.

The Packers will survive and succeed, as they have Thompson/McCarthy staying the course--hopefully--and not yielding to the panic and idiocy. The economic may not be so fortunate, though, as we have gone and elected an all out imbecile who favors all the wrong things--based on his history, at least, although, I will give Obama credit for at least TALKING about net tax cuts in order to get elected. I seriously doubt he will follow through on that, though, and America will suffer if he does stay true to his history ofd speaking and voting--favoring higher taxes and a near-socialist economy, rather than the glorious free enterprise capitalism that has brought America to the pinnacle of world power and prosperity.

I'll just say this about Sanders and who is responsible. There is a reason that when a team can't get on the winning track you bring in a new GM who promptly overhauls coaches and players alike. The reason is that it is very hard to tell who is responsible from the outside. Are players blowing assignments? Is it bad coaching causing it? Are players just not good enough?? Is it the GM who drafted them or coaches who can't get them to fulfill potential? Its really hard to say if the defensive problems are caused by injury, miscommunication or lack of talent, or even scheme.

Firing sanders might just show us we aren't as talented as we thought, everyone being healthy next year and the guys calling the signals being on the field full time might show us it was just communication issues. I am not a fan of bend but don't break, especially when they keep breaking, but I do have to admit we are partly victims of circumstance this year. The DL fell apart in a way we couldn't have guessed, the upcoming safety got hurt, and the signal caller of the D (who also covers RB and TE on 3rd down) got hurt. I think the more guys were in and out of the lineup the more we missed assignments and it basically has resulted in a loss of confidence and a team that is struggling for answers. Viva next year.

So you're saying you advocate CHANGE?

A big Yeah Right to that. The CHANGE you are talking about with the Packers--based on poor assessing of problems, misplacing of blame, and wrongheaded solutions--is extremely similar to the contrived "crisis" and the sick and horrendous CHANGE about to be inflicted on the country. That now seems to be a done deal. Hopefully, the Packers--being a benevolent dictatorship of Thompson/McCarthy--will be spared the same CHANGE crap that a majority has been hoodwinked to supporting--both with the team and the country.

CHANGE in both cases, can only be in one direction--downward.

I realize I wasn't really clear, but no I wasn't necessarily advocating change. But if the same things happen next year then you have to consider it. I was actually saying its hard to pin this on Sanders and his scheme as we can't really tell exactly who is responsible for this mess.

I can accept that--assuming similar extenuating circumstances don't happen next year.
