Hell no...if the coaches are doing their job and the player has half a brain they shouldn't be surprised at all....especially on a specialized play like a fake punt!

Has football become too complicated?
I don't get the question. Can you make it simpler for me?

Not sure I understand the question. Complicated for the fans? The players? Coaches? Owners?

Have you seen the IRS Tax Code? It is the world we live in. I'll leave it to Tex and Kiwon to show you that the liberals started it. :P

The rules are so complicated because people try to scam them. There are only 17 Laws of the Game in soccer, but the rule book is well over 100 pages with interpretative guidance to help the poor refs stay one step ahead of the players. Football has a lot more than 17 rules, so I can understand the extra complexity.
Like they say in NASCAR, if you ain't rubbin', you ain't racin'.
(God forgive me for ever making a reference to NASCAR in anything other than a derogatory manner.)

That's pretty sexist and as a woman I don't appreciate you assuming all women know squat about football. Some of us know a h3ll of a lot more than some of the men who post here. :?

No, Abraham Lincoln, a Republican, started the IRS (and its rules) to help pay for the Civil War.
Liberal Democrats get the credit for perfecting its efficiency and complication.

I pretty much shun other sports partly because of their simplicity.
If Football were as simplified as say - Baseball - then whomever authored the article might understand.
I enjoy the "chess match" that everyone seems to talk about regarding coaches and matchups etc etc - that couldn't happen with simplified rules.
My advice to anyone who doesn't "get" NFL football:
Go volunteer with a pee wee league and/or your local schools - the game is much more simply executed on the junior level. Then come back to the NFL and you will have an epiphany.

Nutz just posted that in here cause he can't get away with making comments like that in front of his wife. He'd get spanked!!
...then again, he probably told her to read this thread in hopes of a good old spanking! :P
OR, he was kidding and just wanted to see which of us would jump him first.

I don't think the rules are too complicated.
I think many of the players are too damn stupid.
