Well, it all starts shortly. Looking forward to this first matchup.....I like Atlanta's run game, but with Boldin back in should be an interesting matchup.

Atlanta has been a mixed bag on the road, of course, the Packers are one of the pelts they got on the road. This is one game where I think conventional wisdom is giving the new team too much credit, but the NFC West was dreck. How about a Donovan McNabb style tie?

The Vikings actually outplayed both of these teams but fumbled away the game against Atlanta.

I guess you could expect it from a rookie QB. I think Ryan will be one of the elite QB's in the league for years to come.

I wonder if the Cards will dump Warner and go with Leinart after this season or if they'll extend Warner and trade Leinart? Leinart's bound to get tired of riding the bench.

Leinart better start playing better. Smart teams don't just hand the job to a guy regardless of how he performs.

Interesting question though, I wonder how many years Leinart has on his rookie deal.

Cardinals show how to not take advantage of a fast start. One bad turnover and the Falcons are back on top.

They were always dangerous. They played the defense needed to win and didn' have a bunch of turnovers. They have some fantastic receivers and Warner is certainly playing well all year.

They'll play the Giants in NJ next, no? They have a worse record (9-7) than MN (10-6) and PHI (9-6-1). Their passing attack will be harder to pull off in the Meadowlands.

Yes, they go to NY.

As I understand it, they reseed every round, so who the Cardinals (the four seed) play depends on who wins between Philly and Minny. If the Vikes (#3 seed) win, Minnesota plays Carolina and Arizona plays the Giants. If the Eagles (#6 seed) win, Philly plays the Giants and Arizona plays Carolina.

Record doesn't matter, so much as seeding. As division champs, they may be seeded ahead of teams with better records. Unless this changed recently.

I don't think the Cardinals are all that dangerous. Atlanta's QB played like the rookie he is yesterday. If AZ has to go to a cold weather stadium next week like they did against NE not that long ago AZ might be in trouble.

Indy's D couldn't stop SD in overtime so they are one and done too. It ain't easy winning on the road in the playoffs.

i know the game has started but I'm gonna say 27-13 final in favor of the eagles...

vikes struggle with QBs that are athletic and struggle with RBs that can catch outta the backfield and I just think their offense is worth only 13 points against a pretty good D

i think the queens should go after someone like cassell

he'll be franchised, but the queens seem to not have a problem trading draft picks if they have to

According to an ESPN report, he was franchised today.

wow - that's interesting. What is really going on with Brady? Are they looking for a starter for next year?

Is he really worth that much, even if NE were to start him? I mean, the QB franchise tag has to be worth $13mil, I'm guessing (I can think of 4-5 QB's in the league that made that this year). Or is there a team desperate enough to do a sign and trade?

I guess I'm thinking this guy is a bit more of a proven commodity in the NFL than a college QB. If I was a GM looking for a starting QB, I'd give up my first rounder for him. Or if I was Det, my 2nd rounder. (maybe 2 and 3, which are basically a 1st and 2nd?)

Good game. The Vikes future is looking bright imo, so thats something to look forward to Ras.

Eagles are looking pretty good defensively right now. Lito Sheppard is their 4th corner. That's sick.

Anybody see the quick shot of a trainer holding down Samual by his shoulders, and another trainer yanking on his leg? Gross! Seems like they were trying to pop his hip back into place or something.

Eagles are playing really well and will give the Giants trouble next weekend (Giants haven't been hot lately).

Jackson is not the answer for the Vikes. And I'm thinking their DCoor is gonna get some views for head coach which will put the Vikes in the same position as the Pack (looking for a coordinator, maybe changing schemes).

Sorry, Ras. At least your team got to be 'one and done'... better than neverwas.

Thanks Fos. Just got back, fans were really rockin the place but the Vikings couldn't overcome jackson whose played steadily worse since he was restored as starter. Eagles are a really tough defense and hats off to them. They played hard and McNabb made some nice plays under pressure.

Frerotte was healthy two weeks ago. This isn't breaking news. Also, if you look at the two games before he got hurt, Frerotte was absolutely awful. He's also a statue in the pocket. That's why he got a reserved spot on the bench.

Jackson was very good against the Lions, great against the Cards. About average against the Falcons. A bit below average against the Giants and absolutely shitty today.

I expected his mobility might help against the blitzes but he never took off and run until the game was over. Would Frerotte have been better? Probably since it couldn't have been worse.

I think T. Jack is one of those quarterbacks that, if not a coach killer, will cause any coach more hirsute than Childress to pull his hair out. Since, I don't know if this is just youth or inexperience or what, but he's amazingly inconsistent. One game he'll look amazing, and throw for three hundred yards and four touchdowns and three games later he'll look like he's entirely unfamiliar with the quarterback position.

You start Jackson because you hope you're going to get that game where he's really, really on. You're afraid to start Jackson, because you might get that game where he's really, really off.

I don't think he should be the starting QB for Minnesota next year.

Health always plays a part. The Vikes were a very, very good team this year. They had some weakness, but they were very strong on defense and that run game. Injuries hurt them down the stretch but they did have the pieces in place before the injuries.

The Packers could learn a thing or two from the Vikings offensive and defensive lines.

Frerotte won 8 games this year. You could be foolish and say what got you there is the AP and the Williams, but that would be blind and foolish. TJack had them, and he found a way to lose.

Starting Tavaris is the worst decision since some dough head in Buffalo put Rob Johnston in for a playoff game over Doug Flutie, based on a stellar performance in week 16 against a team that had wrapped up a first round bye...

The reports of the Pats franchising Cassell lead me to believe that they'll be fishing for a Herschel Walker sized truckload of draft picks for one of the two. If I were a Vikings fan, this would make me an odd combination of nervous and optimistic.

As for the Jets, they have PSL's and the stadium to sell. They have already begun kissing up to Favfe in every way imagineable to get him to comeb ack. They sure as hell aren't about to release Favre. That would really be a balck eye for the franchise.

The Vikings are a team that's set up to require minimal production from the QB position to really succeed. They need a guy who can make those throws that you expect any QB to be able to make, and a guy who will periodically step up and make a few plays in order to win close games, and a guy who won't occasionally, inexplicably, play like he's not sure which way his helmet is supposed to face. If you hacked up Frerotte and Jackson and assembled a quarterback out of their best features, you'd have that guy. But I don't think either one is that guy.

Jackson will periodically assume his receivers are 30 feet tall, forget which way his helmet is supposed to go, and otherwise make plays that would make Jr. High coaches shake their heads. Frerotte (and the series of other "caretaker" journeymen they've had in there) just have a low ceiling and just won't make the big plays they need to win some close games against good teams.

If I were a purple fan (and a pirate), I would be paying close attention to Booty (and booty) in the offseason. Heh... Booty.
