GREAT move by Westbrook

In the pregame show Michael Strahan said something that puzzled me:

"Andy Reid in shorts? Only two things should be on those legs: pants, and barbecue sauce."

I'm not sure what this means? Is he admitting he's a cannibal Is this an "Andy Reid is fat" joke? Is he saying Reid has chicken legs?

Regardless, this game promises to be better than anticipated, considering the early success the Cardinals offense has had. I wonder if the Iggles get torched, if we'll still want McDermott.

Truly surreal watching the Cardinals in a conference title game.

Some things you just never expect to see.

Lurker64
01-18-2009, 02:33 PM
Who are the Cardinals kicking away from? Every kick seems to be both a) directional and b) out of bounds.

Lurker64
01-18-2009, 02:38 PM
You always kind of hope the intercepting player would just run out of bounds instead of trying to break tackles.

Lurker64

That was a great play, hilarious, and Fitz is amazing.

Does Aikman not know what a late hit is? Good god, he diesn't know if he agrees with the call? Earth to Troy, Warner got hit a full 2 seconds after he released the ball. You really did take one too many shots to the head.

Why do I keep doubting the Cardinals? I mean, other than the fact that they played in a weak division and gave us a lot of reasons to doubt them all season long...

they played in a weak division, but they were in cruise control for like the last half of the season. they are obviously a much better team then their record shows

Like when Green Bay played at Dallas last year...Harris intercepted Owens..but for some reason it wasn't reviewable (they were going out of bounds?) and Dallas kept the ball. EVERYTHING should be reviewable.

demps should be ejected for that bullshit cheap shot

Lurker64
01-18-2009, 03:29 PM
I think that the reason some things are non-reviewable, is that if the call on the field proves to be incorrect, sometimes there's just not anything that could be done about it (for example, because the whistle had blown and people stopped playing).

I think that what just happened on the "kickoff out of bounds" will probably be subsumed under the "fumble recovery through continuation of play" rule that was recently added.

Agreed. That's gotta be one of the dumbest things I've ever seen on a football field. I might even bench him for the day if I'm Andy Reid. If I'm trying to claw out of a hole like the Eagles are right now, I don't want to be giving away yards like that.

What's with all the kickoffs out of bounds in this game? It's not like they're not playing indoors, on natural turf, and neither team has a truly terrifying returner. I don't remember a game where I've seen so many kicks out of bounds, nearly out of bounds, or called out of bounds when they weren't.

THAT was PASS INTERFERENCE

I agree. The Eagles' receiver, Kevin Curtis, was virtually tackled around the ankles before the ball reached his hands.

That was on a 4th and 10 play. If the interference had been called, which it should have been, the Eagles would have had first and 10 around the Cardinals' 40 yard line. It was a terrible, non-call by the officials, IMO.

Both D's are playing lights out.

Ravens just got a break with a shanked punt and a PI call, but are still down by 2 - and I don't think they're going to get it.

Well, Polamalu just got a pick 6. Unless Pitt's D has a major meltdown, they're going to the SB. The Ravens just have no way of generating some quick points.

Yes it was VERY loud in the stadium. Very cool and very fun. I loved watching the recording (part of it anyway, my brother stopped the second half). After the kickoff out of bounds review we booed forever. Listening on the TV was just hilarious. It was like 15 seconds straight, then after the next play it started again, and then after the next play again.

I did think that Ken Whisenhunt screwed up switching to a prevent defense in the 3rd quarter and start of the 4th. His head was so far up his ass that it took the Cardinals losing their lead to finally pull it back out. I want to watch the NFL Replay which I think is tomorrow at 10:30 mountain time on the NFL network so I can make a better analysis, but those are my thoughts on the 3rd quarter for now. It seemed like the Cards were rushing only 3 D linemen for the majority of the quarter giving McNabb all the time in the world. On the last 4 plays, the Cards finally brought some pressure (not a lot, but a tiny amount) and McNabb immediately threw a pass high and then behind.

Wow, though. What a game. As a secondary Cardinals fan (much bigger Packers fan), this is still very exciting. It would have been disappointing if the Cardinals had lost this game. Further proof how much more of a Pack fan I am. The last word I would use to describe my emotions after last years NFC Championship loss would be disappointing.

Why would Rex Grossman be "jealous?" In a game against the Packers a couple of years ago, Rex earned a perfect ZERO QB rating!

It seemed like the Cards were rushing only 3 D linemen for the majority of the quarter giving McNabb all the time in the world. On the last 4 plays, the Cards finally brought some pressure (not a lot, but a tiny amount) and McNabb immediately threw a pass high and then behind.

Wouldnt this be more on the DC than the HC who was an OC at his old job? I wouldn't think he would call the D sets, but I guess he can always override.

I guess that's what I'm thinking. The head coach should be able to over ride or tell the DC what to run. And it shouldn't take losing by a point before you start to put a little more pressure on the opposing QB. Maybe I'm wrong about the Cards pressuring McNabb. I think there is a replay tomorrow night on NFL Network, so hopefully I can catch that and see how the defense really did.
