Packers Sign Draft Pick Jolly
(WFRV) GREEN BAY The Green Bay Packers Friday signed defensive tackle Johnny Jolly, the team’s first of two selections in the sixth round of the 2006 NFL Draft (183rd overall).
The 6-foot-3, 317-pound Jolly is the second Packers draft pick to sign, joining defensive end Dave Tollefson, who signed June 23.
Earning All-Big 12 honors over last two years, he started the last 35 games of his career at Texas A&M, playing in 47 games as a collegian. The Houston native accumulated 230 tackles (111 solo), including 6½ sacks and 28 tackles for loss. Jolly also notched 15 passes defensed, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and two blocked kicks.
I think Jolly is likely to make the team unless his foot injury puts him on IR. The battle for 4-5 DT spots will be one of the more interesting in camp.
