You and Skin have some great shit going on... I love it! I could give a RIP less about any admonishments toward me.....I guess "tolerance" is sometimes a one way street and "free passes" are given to those who have been here from inception....not to perceived interlopers such as me... whatever.... I'm just going to continue with my "banalities" until my life support is ripped from me...lolz....***gasp***
Yeah they did have something great, we all did, what we have now is shit. The RR might as well be a fucking twitter feed.

As for free passes for those "from inception" well too fucking bad sister, many of us actually started this shithole and loved it as that. And FYI Joe was reffering to me but fuck him. He is like most whites, a fucking liar and will get his.

For so much that you want everyone to cater to you how about you cater to those who founded the place or have been here for sometime? I aint Iron Mike, I aint fucking you, or even getting head so why would I give a fuck about you? PR.com was a place that was started on saying what the fuck you want and now it is paradise ruined. I was part of the downfall when I quit on the place and let it go. I will correct that error presently. So if you dont like the way it is now, well it is likely going to get worse. So save your talk of tolerance because you show little yourself.

Iron Mike - I am sorry to you for calling your honey a skank or trick. She talks alotta shit but cries easily if we dont all bow. As a Mexican I blame this on you for not controling your hen better but I still feel like I have disrespected you and for that I apologize man.

I'm over any beef with you. You are right... this is a "familial" place and there are people here with a lot of history together. I "get" that and I respect that contrary to what you may think... and you're right about something else you said a while back as well... I'll paraphrase... "if I can't take the PR heat, get outta the kitchen". So, bring the heat. I've gone from pissed off to amused that I even evoke such emotion out of people actually. It's business as usual for my continuation here and I could care less what anyone thinks about it because I'm having fun. So you, or anyone else, feel free to blast away as you wish. My banalities know no bounds and are basically harmless with no collateral damage to speak of.

First off, Madtown is right about the fucking twitter feed (and probably about the Chinese restaurant too, but I imagine she'd be a tough old bitch).

That said, I need an actual discussion to break out. I may have a choice to make in the next couple of weeks. With my job ending, I've been in discussions with a smaller, regional engineering firm about the possibility of them inventing a position for me. The marketing director has said that he is on board with the idea and he and I are putting together some information for the firm principals to try to convince them that bringing me aboard would be a stellar idea. I have a little bit of flexibility as far as inventing a job that's what I want to do. I don't know what the pay is, but the kicker is that it's a five-minute commute.

I got a call today from a recruiter for a tech and intelligence company who wants me to interview for a job similar to what I'm doing, but with more strategy and analysis and creativity. It would be challenging and I would have a voice and it pays fairly well--a job I could easily get. The problem is that it has a hairy commute to Virginia (moving is not an option).

Do I go for the more sure thing? How long could I reasonably put the second job off to try to work things out with the first? What would you guys do?

Then there's not enough information. Any chance you can negotiate an equity position?

There's nothing to negotiate until we get the principals on board with the idea. Then it's a matter of identifying and prioritizing job functions and figuring out what they'd be willing to offer for those functions. That's part of the conundrum: do I wait for the job I can tailor to myself (I'm pretty sure it will go through because three of the principals already know me and one of them is pushing for me) or go for the sure thing with a few drawbacks? The nice thing now is that I can use the other job as leverage.

Honestly? Commute is a big issue for me. I also like the idea of being able to have a position that I would have a hand in creating and defining. Additionally, I like a bit of a challenge and a little uncertainty is also exciting... for me anyway.

Have you already or are you planning on asking the "money" question soon? Even if it is not as much as the other position offered...the commute offsets it for me and, If I am reading this correctly, you have a bit more "freedom" in this environment as well.... but until you know the monetary factors you are operating rather "blind".

In past experience, I have been able to stave off an offer for about two weeks before they need to "move". As a matter of fact my deliberation actually seemed to appeal to them. Different fields operate under differing "rules" however, so I am not sure what a "norm" would be.

I took one of those "leaps into the abyss" with respect to my job a couple of years ago and it was so well worth it. I made it mine and I have a great amount of passion for my career... something not everyone can say.... I actually DO love my job!

You're a smart cookie. I think you might actually already know the answer to your own questions.

That's my two cents...

For the record, the commute is $3,500 per year by metro, more if I drive and there's no free parking, plus wear and tear on my car, and the time and headache. The commute is a big factor, but so is security. I'm afraid of turning down this position and then the principals decide they don't want to bring me aboard.

I fully understand the security aspect. Are you in a position, or a comfort level, to actually tell the principals of your situation/dilema and perhaps force some action on their part... one way or the other? Have you actually met with the firm principals or are you going off of the Marketing Director's lead?

Obviously someone in my position realizes that security is a fallacy. Perhaps I should have called it the more sure thing. I'd at least like to think there's an open door into the organization. I will know more after I have this interview on Wednesday with the commute. The recruiter put me in a very good negotiating position with them when she said they were having a beast of a time finding someone with my skills. She also told me that the hiring VP would want a short phone interview and then to schedule an in-person if that went ok. I got a request for the in-person about an hour after talking with the recruiter without the bother of the phone interview.

Turn them down flat when they offer you the job. It will make you seem less desperate and they will certainly call you back later with a better offer.

This time I have the firm with the director who's said he wants to hire me (if he can convince the principals), I have the interview next week and they will offer me a job making more than I do now because I'm the only one they could find with experience doing what they need, and today my company's recruiter called me into her office and said if I want a fallback job, I can go work in her department. Back then I didn't and I was worried that I would never find a job--or I'd be working somewhere that wouldn't even pay the bills. 1) That was very entertaining. I could not believe the frequent use of anaerobic surges to jockey for position. The modern race has shaved quite a few seconds off of that time, and I wonder if the 5000m is run quite a bit differently now.

2) The strides were turning over so rapidly with the arms held in so tightly it looked a bit like the Miller Park Sausage Race.

3) Hey 1972, say hello to 13 year-old swede for me. Tell him to check the bottom of his older brother's sweater drawer.

4) Olympic coverage was so much better back then. It was 90% event-coverage and 10% bullshit. These numbers are now reversed. I had a chair pulled up to the old black and white set for weeks watching almost anything they'd cover. Archery? Root for the American! Weight-lifting? Root for the Russian!

Pre always claimed that since he didn't have a sprinter's kick that he needed to run the competitors hard the whole race - push them so they had nothing left at the end. But hey, he was just 21 and wet behind the ears. Those brash Americans! It's always "Let me tell you...."

Of course KC doesn't move like he used to and gained 40-50 lbs. Was funny when he said, for all you younger people here tonight, I was the 'N Sync for all your mothers and just so you know this (pointing at himself) is what Justin Timberlake is going to look like in 30 years. :)

Post any random musings, stories, or thoughts. This thread takes no direction and is meant to be a collection of unorganized choatic thoughts and stories about nothing in particular.

Last week I want to church and took my two daughters. I always let them know I'll ask them what the sermon was about.

I asked the five year old and she replied

"JOHN GOT SWALLOWED BY A WHALE

(she meant Jonas)

I asked her what she learned from that and she replied

"DON'T JUMP OFF THE BOAT INTO THE OCEAN WITHOUT A LIFE JACKET"

Kind of funny; I looked back at the first post in this tread if infinity and it was about my little girl who now seems to want to be an asiring basketball star even though she is only going into second grade.

ANOTHER TRUE STORY:

My little boy, nickmame 0f 911 because he called 911 accidentally at 18 months on my cell, had an interesting discusion with his babysitter (who is in here 30's today).

When she was changing him, he looked down and said "I've got a really little weiner because I'm just a little boy. When I get to be a big boy I'm going to have a really big weiner just like my dad." Then he motioned with his hands and used them as a measuring stick. Little guy gave me two feet in length !!!! MY HERO.

I should hire him out to single guys :)

Lofts are trendy, but the two-tone paint scheme is so 1982. Plus, you never use "Tower Tan" in a loft - it's more of a breakfast nook or library color. A circular staircase would add some class. The PVC pipe for the shitter should be painted a darker color. Really people!

Lofts are trendy, but the two-tone paint scheme is so 1982. Plus, you never use "Tower Tan" in a loft - it's more of a breakfast nook or library color. A circular staircase would add some class. The PVC pipe for the shitter should be painted a darker color. Really people!

Great TV reception though!

Well....I just got back from Myrtle Beach, but had a sucky trip down. My son doesn't travel well so my wife and I took turns driving while the other kept him occupied. My wife got pulled over in NC going 76 in a 55 and now has to go to court in the Fall because it's reckless driving. When we got home there was 8 letters in the mail from different attorneys wanting to represent her. This sucks. Should we hire an attorney or should she just go down there and represent herself?

We got the ticket in NC while heading to SC. Here in WV...I got a ticket going 83 in a 55 (15mph over is considered reckless), but the cop knocked it down to 70 so it wouldn't be reckless. This idiot cop in NC was an ass hole and hateful and now we have to go to court in September.

If you google NC driving laws it looks like Reckless Driving is a Class 2 misdemeanor. Appears to be a criminal offense rather than just a driving citation. If that is the case I would definitely seek legal advise.....esp if there is a chance of her having a criminal record.

How awesome is this? Great minds and teflon logic at work.... on your proverbial dime of course....

In June, as five young men gathered around the Mount Tabor Reservoir near Portland, Ore., one urinated in it, thus "contaminating" the 7.2 million gallons that serve the city, and, said Water Bureau administrator David Shaff, necessitating that the entire supply be dumped. Under questioning by the weekly Portland Mercury whether the water is also dumped when an animal urinates in it (or worse, dies in it), Shaff replied, certainly not. "If we did that, we'd be (dumping the water) all the time." Well, asked the reporter, what's the difference? Because, said Shaff (sounding confident of his logic), "Do you want to be drinking someone's pee?" [Portland Mercury, 6-15-2011]

I've seen a couple of episodes of 'Dog Whisperer,' thus I'm an expert. The sneezing is masking an anxiety disorder. Try putting a small mirror in the pane of glass so that the dog can see himself. The sneezing will stop immediately. ^^

Given that their last mission was a a grocery delivery out and a garbage pick up/ trip to the landfill home, I can see why they came home under the shadow of darkness. I love the idea of the space program, but in the end, the Shuttle mostly was used to take stuff to the space station and the space station was built to have a place for the shuttle to go to. The Space program surrounding the shuttle had little purpose or imagination. Good riddance.

The dog just turned 13 and 1/2. She weighs about 65 lbs. and does ok at Mike's where there's carpet, but has trouble getting her feet under her on the hardwood floors here so I try to help stabilize her when she gets up. She has to go down stairs to get to the back yard, and we have to talk her into going outside and into going down the stairs. I fear the day she can't do it. If it were the other dog who is only 30 lbs. it would be less of a deal.

My finished basement and Packer game room was flooded after crazy-ass storms went through Wed night/Thur morning. Weird using that word flooded because I never in a million years thought that could happen where I live. Man, I just cried when I saw my basement on Thur. morning. About 3 inches of water everywhere. Kids and I worked about 18 hrs. the first day and many, many yesterday and today. This house has a sub pump in the basement but it obviously either quit working or couldn't keep up with all the rain. Finally got to the point where we could rip out all the carpet yesterday and now just the waiting game waiting for everything to dry up good. I didn't have the flooding like that....mud and gunk. (like from river water, if that's what you meant) We just had record breaking rainfall in a very short time. There are varying accounts of the rainfall but range from almost 11 inches to 14 inches in less than 12 hours. My basement has never taken water before but I will be nervous as heck the next time we have a hard rainfall. :(
My ex brother-in-law is lucky to be alive. His truck was swept off the highway driving home from work Wed. night. Water took it to a lower level and the cab started to fill up with water. He got out of the back window and was obviously swept away himself. Luckily it was where there were some trains that where stopped and he was able to latch on to a car. Fire department came across the tops of the train cars and were able to pull him up that way. Crazy shit!

We are definitely in the throes of a nearly perfect full moon. I went to see my friend who bartends at a local pub to watch the second half of the Pack game and the Mariners V Bosox game. (Nice job Mariners by the way) Anywhoo.... there was a wedding in the Hotel, bride and groom get in screaming match, fights ensue, cabs come, security is on it.... high drama right? But wait, there's more.... some dude wants to buy 6 bottles of liquor from the bar to take back to his room, arguments ensue again, as they do, big no no in WA state.... BUT... hey.... the night moves on.

Meanwhile some chicky falls over in the bathroom, hits her head on the door, laying on floor, can't open door because her dead weight is impeding the ability for us to do so. Finally get her out but not without a roll of toilet paper attached to her shoe. Follow the roll and it leads to the pocket of her jacket... that's right... she has a roll in her jacket pocket that is wrapped around her five inch hooker heels.... good times! Oh, and lest we forget about the screaming homeless dude who wandered in from the 405 begging for free soup and telling me that Jesus was going to "right" all of the worlds "wrongs"... when pressed for a time frame however, he was at a loss. Just spit some corn out (from the free bowl of veggie soup that he procured of course) through his "summer teeth" whilst muttering about life's injustices. I could probably get him a job at Boeing. I ranked Aaron 1st, as you do, but the poll has him in 3rd place... :( Some on this list are overrated anyway.... or perhaps I am allowing disdain and contempt to pollute my gray matter....

Pick and choose carefully? But check the fantasy thread first in case you're one of the ones who got moved.

What a fucking cool night! One of my clients gave me four VIP tickets to the Janet Jackson concert at Mc Caw Hall in Seattle tonight. It was my friend Selena's birthday. As it turns out it was also Janet's brother Michael's birthday.... made for a very emotional show with Janet paying tribute to Michael during the performance. Four of us in attendance... VIP pre concert private room with great food... free booze... we had seats 12 rows from stage... outstanding, energetic performance... what an amazing evening!!! We took video and pics... that female put on one hell of a show... I wasn't expecting the sun, moon and stars.... but she hit it outta the park! GOD did we dance our asses off! WOOOH HOOOOH!!!

That was IT baby!!! Mc Caw Hall is generally reserved for Opera only and seats a relatively small audience.... but... FUCKIN' "A" was it a great concert!!! I'm trying to get the asshats that were with me to send the video they took as well as photos.. we're all technotards... I was too busy shakin' my ass to get a good pic.... those jerk wads got it though... what a cool night!!!! The next day I had a meeting with the same client.... everyone had "brown bottle flu" and was still marginally elated... imagine that!!! LOL!

Zig, all will be fine! :) Throw yourself into something to keep your mind off it.

I just finished making 200 meatballs and a pasta salad for the first football team dinner tomorrow night....that's enough to keep your mind off anything (but sleep..lol). Parent rep again this year and so far my experience was much more fun his freshman year. Parents seemed nicer then ...I guess some of that goes with things getting more competitive? Anyway, still lots of nice folks working with me, just a few "bitches" :) Soooo all this work preparing good food for the boys and bamm, it will be devoured in 15 minutes.

Big, Big game this Friday night! City rivals and should be a great game. They lost their first game but put up a good fight against a very high ranked team. WR's didn't do so well the first game so coach had them pair off at practice short/med distance to throw some fast, hard balls to each other. My boy paired off with a friend and the coach said.....no, you are with me! His hands still didn't look right by the time he got home. lol
