I need all of you guys to do me a favor and go vote for my Grand Nephews HS band so they can get into the Battle of the Bands in Eau Claire, Wi.
If they win this all the way, they will play at Summerfest 2009. All you need to do is go to the link http://www.uwecbattle.com/
In the left side is the VOTE tab select this. Scroll to find ARTS AND CRAFTS then Select them, then scroll to the bottom of the page to enter your email. Then click on VOTE.
You'll be sent a conformation email that needs to be replied to for your vote to count.

OK, so to update this post:
They did manage to get enough votes to be in this battle, but the date interfered with their prom where they were going to play, so they passed on that battle.
They instead got involved with a separate series of battles that had/has a series of battles with the same main prize of playing at Summerfest stage July 4th weekend.
They first went up for a non-launchpad battle in Duluth, MN April 18th and played in 15 band battle where by mistake they ended up taking 2nd place. The first place band was a group of 7th graders and although they were good, all they played were cover songs, and there was a stipulation in the rules where all groups were supposed to play something like 75% original music. Arts And Crafts played 100% original stuff. It wasn't til after the audience vote which determined the winners happened that their band talked to the people in charge and they agreed that they (1st place band) didn't play the required music, so they gave both them and Arts And Crafts the first place prize of $1500 worth of recording time at the McNally Smith college of music in the twin cities.
Next they went to Chippewa Falls, Wi for the launchpad battle series April 24th for a 15 band battle, and they also won that battle. I forget exactly what the prize there was, but it was involved with the original "Wisconsin Launchpad" (http://launchpadwisconsin.org/index.html) series which has the Milwaukee Summerfest prize and that qualified them to advance to state.
Then on May 14th they went back up to Duluth/Superior where the top 6(?) bands from the other battle had an encore dealio, which this time around they won. This time around they won another $1500 worth of recording time, this time at Sacred Heart Recording studio in Duluth.
That led up to this past weekend (20th) where the state launchpad finals were held down in Madison, Wi. where 12 bands from throughout the state played, and lo and behold, they won state! http://i41.tinypic.com/5v3iti.jpg
This now means that not only will they be at Summerfest (http://www.summerfest.com/flash/#), they will be on the main stage July 4th!! They also get to play a second stage gig on the 2nd, and then the Vans Warped tour when in Milwaukee, and 3 other event in/around Madison this summer...... how bout dem apples?? http://i42.tinypic.com/4lkk6h.gif

Here's their 3 song set that won them the state competition. You can really pick up on allot of classic rock/Jimi Hendrix influence in their stuff. Refreshing to hear. My favorite of the set is song 3 "The Calling"
