Isn't "tonight at midnight" the deadline for tendering the RFAs? Any idea what we've tendered our guys at?

Bigby, Bodiford, Kuhn, Bush, Hunter, Humphrey, and Martin are all RFAs by my count. Presumably they will want to keep, at least, Bigby, Kuhn, Hunter, and Martin.

does it even matter, im 99% convinced we do nothing the first week, but im holding out that we swing for the fences...you would think this is the time, TT has another losing season and we are in some real trouble

I don't think we'll be much of a player. I'm betting Thompson is more focused on extending his core players. $36M sounds great, but there are a lot of teams with cap room, and we have several players I'd like to see extended. However, I hope we go for a 2-3 guys in the Chillar to Pickett range.

ya, we do need a couple of upgrades. a lot of formerly high-profile tackles and guards seem to be getting released. They might have nothing left, or just have a bloated salary but can still play. A good portion of the steelers OLine is available, for example. I would really love to see one veteran OL guy signed at some point, since Tauscher and Clifton really dont seem too dependable all of a sudeen. It has been a fairly quick drop-off IMO

this is gonna be just like last year

i got all excited, stayed up late

11 o'clock came, and nothing happened

and nothing continued to happen

i finally went to bed around 2 asking myself what the hell i stayed up for

my advice to everyone is to not stay up late and get all excited for the big free agency to start. nothing is going to happen right off the bat

Humphrey didn't receive a tender. Slightly surprised, but maybe they have their sites set on a TE in FA or the draft.

i've learned that as long as TT is in charge, our offseasons will be pretty boring, and non-eventful

In 2006, I remember seeing the "Packers sign DT Ryan Pickett" on the ESPN crawl at around 3 PM. Also, the "Arrington: Green Bay or New York, Woodson: Tampa or Green Bay" saga that stretched on to late in FA was fairly compelling.

It's been quiet the last couple years though, but I wouldn't be entirely gobsmacked if something happens for the Packers in the first 12 hours of FA.

good grief, so glad we have a few years before rodgers sheds his perfect persona and starts getting whiny as well

??? He has immense talent around him. An all-pro left tackle (who admittedly saw a slight decline, but Clifton is still a premiere talent at the position), two top 15 receivers in the NFL, a very good tight end in Donald Lee, and a good enough offensive line, and a solid back.

He has about as good of talent as anyone in the league around him. He'll never complain if they keep stocking the offense like they have.

you misunderstood my post...that was a joke about ARod. Just saying ARod is such a good leader in only his first year starting that the worst thing that could happen is that he develop an ego a la favre/mcnabb towards the end of their respective careers (and i dont wanna piss off the favre fans, i still love the guy)

In 2007 he was pretty good on Special Teams. Special teamers have value. It's not like we're promising him the world and can't just cut him later, though.

agreed, the penalties he got on special teams were limited to the 15 yard variety

You are as wrong as usual. All-pro left tackle? LOL One PRO BOWL and now he is an all-pro?

Two top 15 receivers? LOL DD isn't a top 15 receiver.

Very good tight end in Donald Lee? LOL This coming from a man who labeled Arod as average...but, Lee is very good? Oh lord.

Good enough line? Wow, i like that....you put a bunch of words together and formed a sentence that says..well, exactly nothing.

I can still see him failing to recover that fumbled punt against the Giants in the NFC title game. The guy has physical ability, but always seems to come up short when opportunity knocks.

If I was drinking when I read that, I might have BOMNFed there. Donald Lee practically defines average. If Partial was talking about Finley, Finley practically defines "unrealized potential."

Clifton an All-Pro? No, and last year not close.

Two top 15 receivers? Yes. Driver was #20 in receiving yards last year. If he was on a team that didn't have a Jennings, he's have more even yards.

Donald Lee a very good TE? Nope. Average.

Good enough OL? Not sure what good enough means, but they are better than they are given credit for by many here.

Solid back? Last year just barely.

I'm a little surprised Bodiford didn't get tendered. He went on the IR last year, and they didn't come to an injury settlement agreement. I figured they wanted to keep him around.

Well... he's not gone yet. He's just a free agent as of the start of free agency. If nobody else particularly wants him (not improbable), he can be resigned for less than the lowest tender.

Supposedly the greatest wedge-buster ever seen in the NFL.

Kind of like a bowling ball. Maybe worth keeping for that role - if he's really that good and can take out two or three guys on a kick off, your chances of bagging the returner way back are higher, much higher.

Whose spot you'd take for such a specialist, I dunno.

They may still want to keep him around, but not for $1M.
The "injury settlement" thing only works for a player who is expected to be healthy enough to resume playing at some point later in the season. Reaching an injury settlement allows him to do that. If a player is truly out for the year there is little incentive for him to agree to any settlement.
