4 years ago javon walker demanded the packers trade him or cut him, but he would never play for the packers again. this after the team declined to give him a new deal after he had 1 good year, out of three.
he threw a fit, threw the team under a bus, and compared himself to a soldier fighting, you know, because he put his life on the line everytime he played football, just like the troops are always in danger.
well he got his way
he held out, got hurt on the first pass to him, blamed injury on the team not giving him more money, got traded. got a huge deal, became a bust. threw another fit, got released, got another enormous contract, became another bust.
and now this. looks like javon has finally figured out he's not as valuable as he thought he was

WALKER STAYS WITH THE RAIDERS
Posted by Mike Florio on March 5, 2009, 3:03 p.m.
Remember those reports that the Raiders were poised to cut receiver Javon Walker?
As it turns out, they were wr-wr-wr-wr-premature.
According to David White of the San Francisco Chronicle, Walker has agreed to a major restructuring of his contract, giving up a $5 million roster bonus that was due this week and reducing his base salaries dramatically.
In return, his new base salaries for 2009 and 2010 are fully guaranteed.
The move creates nearly $8 million in cap space for the Raiders.
His 2009 base salary has been cut from $4 million to $2 million, and his base salary for 2010 has been reduced from $6 million to 2.6 million next season.
Walked also agreed to reduce his base salary in 2011 from $8 million to $3.2 million. His 2012 base drops from $10 million to $3.8 million. And his 2013 base falls from $10 million to $4.4 million.
That is a lot of sprayed champagne.
But while it’s easy to focus on what Walker gave up, the reality is that, absent the restructuring, he would have gotten not another dime from the team. It’s also a sign that Walker didn’t feel all that strongly about a potential injury grievance aimed at collecting the $5 million injury-guaranteed roster bonus, to which he arguably would have been entitled since he finished the 2008 season on injured reserve.
Our guess is that Walker’s agent gauged the market, and determined that the offer that the Raiders put on the table was better than anything Walker would get from another team.
So, in some cases, tampering actually strengthens the relationship between the player and his current team.

You forgot to mention that he saw a teammate shot to death, and then a year or so later got the shit kicked out of him in Vegas.
He is an asshat.

Amazing how these guys can make such a mess of their lives... he started out being a pretty good citizen in GB, but went the punk/moron route pretty quickly.

Him holding his teammate and friend while he died from gunshot wounds is not funny, nor are the emotional and mental scars it leaves. I can understand it messing with your head as a football player.
I had a friend in high school. A year a head of me. He was an outstanding free safety as a freshman, in fact he was actually brought up on the varsity. The program had really high hopes for him. Then his sophomore year he was sent down to the sophomore team after a week with varsity, at the time they just didn't think he was ready, then he really wasn't playing all that well on the sophomore team, I mean he was ok, but certainly not even close to the player he was as a freshman, everyone wondered why. He was even having a hard time scrimmaging against the freshman team I was on.
Well it turns out that during the summer he was out on the golf course. They had just teed off and starting walking down the fairway where literally out of the sky a man landed 200 yards away from them in the middle of the fairway. It was a skydiver whose shute failed to open. When they got close enough to see, the man was folded in half the wrong way.
It fucked him up more than anyone realized, far be it for me to understand the complexity of it all.

This really isn't all that funny but I'm about to get fired because I can't stop laughing and someone is going to wonder why.
The watching his friend die part was really not funny, but for some reason that was really needed to accentuate just how preventable his Vegas mugging was. Just picturing him, decked out in gold and ice, jumping from his safe, pimped out Escalade with friends into a pimped out escalade filled with ganstas asking him to, "get in the car" at 2:00 AM is priceless. If they are black guys who are praising him and having a good time, maybe, but these are white gangstas, in vegas, driving some type of pimped out, black vehicle and he got in the car. Oh man, my face hurts because people are not supposed to laugh this hard. And something about how it all came after the whole story about how he lost millions makes it seem even more idiotic.

Wasn't there a time that he was spraying champagne on people from the VIP section of a club and then someone beat him up too, or was that the time his friend got shot? Maybe that was the time he got mugged, I forget. His whole story is just so filled with idiocy, it's hard to tell where one story stops and the other begins.

Him and a bunch of teammates where at a new years eve party three years ago. They were spraying champagne all over everyone. Some bad dudes took issue. As the Bronco players were getting into their limo shots rang out. Darren(CB) forgot last name got hit, and died.
Last summer, Walker was partying in Vegas and sprayed some champagne. Then he left the party was assaulted and robbed

I would have thought the tradgic imagery of the one scene would obliterate any possibility of hilarity in the next.

Who was the last player outside of Sharper & Longwell who got let go and had a successful career? Maybe that isn't a good thing that when a player leaves the Packers they suck. Maybe that is keeping free agents away? Just a thought to get away from JH's freaky comments..

Moving away from his idiocy, back to the money question...
He gave up some kind of coin. In '09 and '10 he was supposed to get: $5mil roster bonus +$4mil base + $6mil base = $15million. He's going to get $2mil base +$2.6mil base. That's a drop of $10.4 million!!!!
AND they've got him locked up for 3 more years at ridiculously low salaries if he returns to anywhere near his old form. (assuming there aren't some escalators) If he does well, he's not going to be in a very good negotiating spot.
Have to say this is a good gamble by the Raiders.

I dunno JH...I go to Vegas EVERY year and don't get mugged/thug raped....but then again I'm not deked out in gold and bling (but Snake is always pleasing on the eyes and well-dressed) and go everywhere from the Strip to Fremont at any time (as Snake does whatever he damn well pleases at 6'5" 235...just sayin yo) where it's harsher on the Fremont (supposedly) and bitchslapped a burnt out crackhead last year who kept demanding a cig from me last year on his bicycle..
Too funny. Dude kept annoying me as me and my buds were just walking down the Fremont (doublefisting a Margarita/beer with a smoke) outside Fitzgerald's for a cig at around noon, then told me I was a traitor to the white race for not giving a poor white guy a smoke as I laughed at him and told him to stop the drugs and get a job. Then, he incidentally/intentionally clipped me a few minutes later with his bike, and Snake turned around slapped him off his bike with the quickness (real quick) and had 2 buddies (college football buds) wanting me to pile-drive the punk into the pavement. I jumped on the dude and slapped him silly (telling him he needs to rethink his motives/life) and the 2 security cop-type dudes (don't know what they are called) came over and arrested him for assault. Snake likes to fuck up a dude for sure, but has learned to chill with that over the years.
To summarize..yeah shit goes down, if you are retarded at 2am flashing bling in Vegas (or anywhere)...Snake will rape a casino on blackjack (fuck a slot) and leave with money for the last 5 years...(and going in 2 weeks again).
As far as making your statements racially provocative saying they are dumb for hanging with white gangsters vs. black gangsters is just stupid. All gangsters suck. Snake could bring "fight stories" (and have tons to talk about, but only with good buds) to the forum everyday, but this does nothing to bring forth good Packer talk. Good for listening to while you drink beers as I'm sure many Pack fans have plenty of these to bring...as the only reason I said as much as you made it seem that you are destined to be fucked up in Vegas..not true..pretty chill town.
Stick with inciteful Packer stuff (you are pretty deece with that) and lay off retarded comments about things you don't know. Snake is white but has a couple of successful black friends who are highly intelligent and well in business like Snake. Race has nothing to do with stupid people in my mind unless you are unfortunately inclined to think as much. To try to incite racial heat is not smart EVER, unless you are 12, then again it's not smart, but just juvenile. So which is it?

When he was with the Packers he had one good year out of three.
That was the year Driver got injured early and Ferguson got injured later in the year(famous hit by Jaguars)
While I may say Walker has never been worth it. The best part of trading up to get Walker was a 5th round choice that came to the Packers.
That 5th round pick was Aaron Kampmann.
Though not technically correct, I prefer to think of Walker as part of the deal that brought Kampmann to the Packers.
Walker, traded to Denver on draft day, was replaced by Greg Jennings in the draft that day.
All in all the Packers manuevered around the Walker problem rather well.

7th round pick Sowell had a good career with the Jets after being cut by the Packers.

And yeah, at 2 AM, I'd probably be more leery of a pimped out car full of white guys in Vegas than I would be of black guys. Maybe it's ignorant, but my initial thought was those guys were the stereotypical picture of organized crime; skin color, age, ride, everything was exactly as you'd expect it in a movie right down to the time and place. That is exactly how I picture a violent criminal. The reason I thought it was funny was because he actually got in that car (and didn't die so nothing tragic happened, just an ass beating). It's funny because he did the exact opposite of what anybody with any common sense would do and it turned out exactly as you would expect. Irony I guess.

I'm not sure I understand what is meant by "let go" or "successful career" but there are any number of guys who went elsewhere to start or play significant roles after having been released by the Packers or having had Packer contracts expire. Off the top of my head I can think of the following relatively recent Packers:
Mike Wahle
Hunter Hillenmeyer
Grady Jackson
Josh Bidwell
Na'ill Diggs
Vonta Leach
Frank Walker
Mark Roman
Paris Lenon
Vonnie Holliday
Kenny Peterson
Others who continue to receive pay checks in more limited roles include:
Marquand Manuel
Bubba Franks
Dave Tollefson
Chris White
Earl Cochran
Daniel Muir
Ingle Martin
JT O'Sullivan
I'm sure there are others, and there are many, many older ones from the late 1990s and early 2000s that could be named. These guys aren't much different than the run-of-the-mill FA so many fans are so anxious for the Packers to sign. They run the cross-section of free agency, from pro-bowlers, to starters, to primary backups, to roster fillers.

LOL, well they DID have Tazers and Mace and looked REAL serious trying to find someone with a CB to call the real cops. My dickhead buddy asked if they had any Navy SEAL experience but got a nasty look. LOL. Now that is some good stuff if you ask me. I had tears running down my eyes as he kept grilling them about their "professional" background and if they were safe if we left the scene leaving them alone with the kamakazi crackie. Really fun stuff though.
Snake didn't care though as they saw the whole thing and said they would file assault charges on the crackie. Snake slithered on quickly as he was only pissed he dumped out half his $1 24 oz. Margarita on the Fremont pavement. Luckily the Golden Nugget was 1 min. away. So everything was OK.........except Mararitas were $2 there. Fucking crackheads I tell ya.
Bottom Line: Wonderlic scores matter in real life, but the average Joe is pretty safe in Vegas. Just don't go all 2pac and flash gang signs out the limo yelling, "THUG LIFE", and I think you MAY survive. JWalk is a trip for real. :D

Snake-
I think, potentially, an important difference between your Vegas experience and Walker's, is that I doubt you go around spraying people with expensive champagne from the VIP balcony. A lot of guys will get pissed off at you when you make them wet and sticky, some bad people might get pissed off enough to do something about it that you're not going to like.
I don't think "don't spray strangers with champagne, dumbfuck" is a hard rule to follow and following it will probably avoid some hardship for anybody who follows it.

LOL, very true advice..though Snake has been VIP in Rain and a few other Vegas clubs (real easy/cheap to get access if you know the scene), but then again I don't do retarded ass shit to get gangsters pissed off. Edit...not really gangsters, but thugs with guns....as that shit is real and have seen it.
JWalk is a dumbass for real. Never met him and don't want to, but if that is what he did, I'd fuck him up too, just not with an UZI spray.
It's pretty easy. Anytime, but esp. in a foreign environment, respect those you don't know and don't do anything to get shot/fucked up, etc. JWalk is obviously a moron (Wonderlic, Packer comments, etc.) so most of us will be safe avoiding moronic types of behavior to get beat down in Vegas...I'm looking forward to my 2009 trip shortly. LOL

I think the final word on the JWalk story was that he thought these guys were ok dudes. He had hung with them some and they buddied up to him to gain his trust before they dragged him to a back allley and cracked his orbital socket.
While I would agree that spraying people with champagne could get your ass kicked, in the Vegas club scene if Floyd Mayweather is spraying idiots run to get in the stream so they can tell their friends how awesome it was in vegas. "Yea dude, we were at Pure and Floyd Mayweather blew like 10 large on Dom and sprayed it all over us...it was awesome". Not my reaction, but I'm not a clone as Jim Rome would call them.

I haven't run the numbers, but because of his trade, subsequent new Bronco contract and now two Raider contracts, Walker has received quite a bit of upfront money. He hasn't gotten anywhere close to the "advertised" contract money (esp on the Bronco deal and, obvs. the first Raider deal) but he has cashed some nice checks.
So his business decisions have paid off, but his other decisions (including hooking up with the Raiders) and another injury have cost him dearly. I thought he made an unwise business move to force the trade praying for a new contract with the Broncos. But that looks like genius compared to the rest of his struggles.

As near as I can figure with a few minutes checking, it looks like Walker has received about $22M in bonuses already paid, and about $3M in salaries since leaving GB. Add in about another $6M in bonuses and salaries from the Packers, and the kid has done pretty well for his 267 reception, 4,000 yard, 7 year career.

You know, there were so many people so sure that TT screwed that up and forced Walker out of here. They didn't know exactly what went on behind closed doors, but they knew it was TT's doing and Javon was a decent guy.
Then, many of the same people know TT screwed up the FAvre incident, but Favre is just holding back because he doesn't want to hurt TT. Outside of not bringing in the players Favre told TT to get, there is something else Favre is just not telling so he doesn't have to hurt Ted in the public eye.
At some point it gets ridiculous. It shows that people really will believe whatever they want to believe with no regard for reality.
