Mods, feel free to move this. I figured it'd get more action here though.

Memphis is getting quite a scare in the first half.

I'm interested to see how the Big 10 fares. The optimistic side of me says the tough Big 10 D will lock down some teams. The negative side says that these faster, more athletic teams will find a way to offset the Big 10 D and that the Big 10 teams won't have enough offense to keep up.

The only good thing I can say about my bracket is that out of the handful of the teams that I picked who lost, I didn't pick any for the Sweet 16.

I was trying to figure out what you people were talking about with the off season workouts.

Your talking about some girly ping pong thing, college basketball, a no contact, boring female sport.

You people need to become alive and do something. A beautiful day in the upper 70's and you sit watching the television with dribble, shoot, time out, that just goes back and forth witthout any exciting plays.

In fact ping pong has more meaningful scoring. I'd rather talk about Packer players lifting weights.

Sort of an eh day overall in the tourney today. Hopefully there will be more excitement tomorrow.

It was interesting to note that on Day 1 there were a lot of near upsets. A lot of # 2 and #3 teams had difficulty with their opponents.

Let's see if that trend continues today.

Marquette game is entertaining.

Marquette is playing damn sloppy today. They started out with great defense, but that has faded since halftime. To say thier offense has been stagnant would be an incredible understatement. They'll need to step it up big time or they won't make it to Sunday. Utah St. has all the momentum in the second half.

Gunakor
03-20-2009, 01:58 PM
Marquette wins by 1. The team that played UConn so hard a few weeks ago was not on the floor today. They were awful, and damn lucky to be advancing. They better get this fixed in the next couple of days, because Mizzou will embarrass them on Sunday if they don't.

Went to the Metrodome, and watched the Bison give Kansas a good run. Good game. They played about as well as they could, but #4 was just too good for them. Ben Woodside is one heck of a ballplayer though.

I've yet to read the rest of this thread and I couldn't post because I was at work, but damn Bretsky, nice call! I've watched my recording of the game and I have to ask what happened to Leur? Him and Krabbenhoft were invisible it seemed. Hughes was as well until the very end. Good thing Nankavil really stepped up his game and also good for JBo to finally start shooting fairly well away from home.

I thought when the Badgers were down 3 with a minute it was over but for the first time this year we didn't fuck up our chance. Very cool to see us finally win a close game and when it actually matters to boot! Hopefully we can beat Xavier and make the tournament more interesting. It gets really boring for me after the first weekend if the Badgers aren't in it.

Yep. I don't think that guy has the speed to run with Hughes if he penetrates. Keep doing it, it will get 'em in the penalty in the second half and that will be HUGE in a game like this.

Love the behind the back move from Hughes. Dude is short, but lightening quick.

Gotta cut down on the dumb mistakes. Krabbenhoft has to know where he is standing. Ridiculous turnover. Can't make those mistakes.

Don't have any talent. Who is going to score other than Hughes next year?? We saw the limitations today. Without a Tucker, or having a veteran laden squad like the team with Butch (solid center), Landry (solid forward), Flowers(solid guard) and Hughes(solid guard), they just can't hang with the big boys. They don't have enough scorers.

No talent? Jbo has talent. Leuer has talent. KN has talent. Bergrenn has talent.

Incoming players taylor and Bruisewitz have talent...top 150 talent.

The fact that you can't see the talent..and then correlate talent to winning is hilarious. I guess UF has no talent.

I'm no Marquette fan, so I can be particularly objective here.

Marquette got SCREWED down the stretch by the officials!

The clear charge at 79-79 that went as a block against Marquette, then the obvious foul on the shooter--should have been 3 free throws for Marquette at the end. Even that stepping over the line, which was a correct call, I bet doesn't get called over half the time--especially when it is a game-deciding call.

I've seen the baseline violation called many times...i'm straining to recall, but i know it was a major call in either the NBA or NCAA..and people always complain when it is called. But, you just know if Mizzou had broken the rule...MU fans would be posting youtube videos to show how they were robbed. This isn't an MU thing...basic fan reaction.

Losing a game like that is indicative of coaching. Sorry. But, honestly, this team's season was over when James went down..and any real hope of a final four run was over when crean couldn't land one decent big man.

When did you effing have it?

I'm not arguing the call. It was the right call. It's just lame that their season ended on a call like this, especially after fighting so hard to get back into the damn thing. I'm not saying they shouldn't have made the call.
