One of my favorite times of the year is approaching again. And every year I like to take my stab at a mock Packers draft. It most likely will be way off, but it's something I like to do.

First here's last years mock, I do wish we would have gotten Trevor Scott, He turned out to be a steal in last years draft for Oakland. http://www.packerrats.com/ratchat/viewtopic.php?t=12190&highlight=chain+gang+mock+draft

2009 Packers Mock Draft

1st Rd.
#9- Michael Oher, T, Mississippi
I've thought and debated on this pick for a long time, and it stills comes back to my original decision. Some may say Oher is too inconsistent, but he performed as well as Andre Smith last season, also do not forget the defensive lines these SEC O-linemen face week in and week out. Oher has as much physical ability as any other lineman in this draft, and at worst should be our starting RT next season. There may be a lineman more ready than Oher, but I believe his ceiling is the highest.

2nd Rd.

#41- Sean Smith, CB, Utah
Thought about going OLB here, but I went BPA. For those of you that don't know much about him, he huge for a CB. 6'3 215lbs. Some say he's a tweener at CB/S, his numbers say he's a corner. Ran a 4.43 40yd dash at his pro day, and had an impressive 4.15 20yd shuttle at the combine for a guy his size. Great hands and Ball instincts, actually starter his career at Utah as a WR. Is a little cocky, but I like that in a DB.

3rd Rd.

#73- Jason Williams, OLB, Western Ill
This is a guy many people having been hearing of lately flying up draft boards. He can flat out fly 4.42/4.46 40yd dash, has good size 6'2 241. Honestly, his production wasn't all that impressive to me, but I've read TT has already brought this guy in for a visit. May be a guy to keep an eye on during the draft. Did have 8 sacks in 2007 so he does have pass rushing ability, truly I think his physical skills would be perfect for or OLB spot, and with our coaches on D they could mold this guy into a Beast.

*Warning the following pick is a HOMER PICK, please react accordingly*

#83- Travis Beckum, TE, Wisconsin
I can make a case for Beckum, to be picked here, He's only about 80% healthy right now and look at the numbers he put up at his pro day. A 4.6 40yd dash, 38.5 vert jump, 4.10 SS, at the combine he put up 28 reps on the bench. He'll be a big contributor on an NFL, keep him in the state of Wisconsin! I truly felt bad for him this past season, he came back for his senior year, even though he may have been a late 1st rd, early 2nd rd pick. Was injured early, and the busted his leg late in the year, this is why players do come out early, but I commend him for finishing out his career in college.

4th Rd.

#109- Chris Baker, DT, Hampton
This is a pick that should solidify the interior of our DL, he has the size, speed, strength, and agility. He was originally a Penn State recruit, played 2 seasons there and had some off field troubles, I know I know, not a packer person, fact is he is played in a true 3-4 at hampton, and understands the principles of the NT. Last season, he had 62 tackles 16.5 TFL, and 8.5 sacks. Would be worth the Gamble IMO.

5th Rd.

#145- Devin Moore, RB, Wyoming
Who? He's a guy who wasn't even invited to the combine, but held a workout in Indy right before. Solid kick returner, and pass receiver out of the backfield, could be our true 3rd back that creates mismatch nightmares for opposing defenses. Kind of a Jack of all trades RB, reminds me a bit of a little bigger version of Darren Sproles. He's 5'9 190, 4.36 40yd dash, 4.08 SS, 28 reps at 225, and a 35 in. vert jump. I really like this guy.

6th Rd.

#182- Joe Burnett, CB, Central Florida,
Nothing really stands out as a WOW factor about him, but he just gets the job done, kind of reminds me of Asante Samuel, or Brandon Flowers, is a Ballhawking CB that had 16 career Int's. He may not have elite speed, but has good COD skills, and despite his 40 time he can run with most WR's. Best fit is in zone coverage.

#187- Cornelius Lewis, T, Tennessee State
Small School Big production, a very athletic lineman, better than his numbers indicate, that some project at guard at the NFL level, Florida St. Transfer, was suspended there due to a fight during a Florida/FSU game. Dominated Texas vs. the Nation individual drills, Good project pick.

7th Rd.

#218- Phillip Hunt, OLB, Houston
Had a fairly solid pro day, ran the 40 in 4.75, showed some get explosion with a 41.5 in vert jump, and a 4.22 SS, very productive in college. 14 sacks last year, and 34 in his career, could turn out to be a steal, and may make a great rush LB. I really like him, the only knock is his height 6'1, but this guy can bring the heat.

Well there you have it, I know more than likely every pick will be wrong, but I have a blast doing this, more so with the late round picks. Hope you all enjoyed, thanks for reading.

Solid draft! I like 2 tight end sets and I'd be thrilled if TT drafted Beckum in the 3rd.
