View Full Version : Prospect visits?
have we brought anyone in yet for interviews or workouts?
pft usually lists the teams that some of the top prospects are visiting, and i have yet to see the packers mentioned
are we not doing this, or is TT just being super secretive?

TJ Lang (http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=79362&draftyear=2009&genpos=OT), OG/OT/C - Real similar to Sitton, big, nasty, and athletic (3rd-4th round)
Jason Williams (http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=73155&draftyear=2009&genpos=olb) - LB - Probably an ILB, maybe TT just had to see if his mid-4.4 speed is for real, he'll be one of the fastest LB's in the NFL. (3rd round)
Vaughn Martin (http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=70788&draftyear=2009&genpos=DT) - NT - Freak athlete, from a Canadian college (6th-FA)
Detroying a Chargers Scout (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=koiYOwnpOTo)
Greg Toler (http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=86610&draftyear=2009&genpos=CB) - CB - Small school guy, awesome all around measurables, said to look great on film, the right kind of hair to succeed in GB's secondary (been shooting up, could be a 4th - 5th rounder)
Jason McCourty (http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=72873&draftyear=2009&genpos=CB) - CB - Another lesser known CB prospect. A little short, but again good measurables (4.30 40) and said to be good on film (6th - 7th rounder)
I've heard that will most likely have a workout (if we haven't already) with OT Joel Bell (http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=25637&draftyear=2009&genpos=OT) from Furman (4th - 5th rounder), a big, tall, and athletic long armed dude that plays nasty, could be a hidden small school LT, and also with QB Jason Boltus (http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=80557&draftyear=2009&genpos=QB) (7th rd - FA), a Div III QB that tore it up, had some good coaching, is strong as an ox and has a whale of an arm.
One thing that I found interesting. I was reading something about our scouting department. I guess they visit tons of games in the fall, and they really only pay attention to 2 positions big time. QB's and CB's, as you can't see QB leadership on film, and you can't see how a CB bounces back from being beaten on film.

Just google'd a bunch of those guys, Waldo. Informative post... Toler has an awesome story, he seems like the guy who could either go undrafted (well, previously) or someone takes a chance in the 2nd-3rd thinking he's this year's DRC ... crap shoot and judging by the reads, there are a lot of teams probably unsure where to pull the trigger.
why aren't we looking at any possible first day guys?
and yes, good stuff waldo
that nt does sound like a beast

We do them at the Senior Bowl, at the Combine, Shrine Game, through coaches, etc....
I think we use these visits for guys that we need more info on, that we don't have enough game tape and whatnot on.

Waldo -
A post like this is exactly why I read this forum.
Everywhere else is just bitchin' and flaming - mostly argumentative, and juvenile. And those are the good points.
Then I stop back in over here and KABLAMO!
Waldo with a complete and informative post, complete with links so you can dig for yourself.
Bra - MuthaFrickin - Vo.
Many thanks.

And if I have to go through the same names in my head about who we might take at #9, and why, I might not even be able to make it to the draft. I know a lot of people don't get too excited about TT's "diamond in the rough / small school" approach sometimes, but it's definitely exciting to think you could get a stud right out from under everyone else's nose.

He's getting some looks, is he? Not surprising! He had a pro day last month.
He's been impressive, and is double teamed every snap just by rote. It's so hard to tell though, I can't be sure, but I'd guess our University ball is on par with Div III or something. A few years ago, an RB named Tinsdale absolutely tore things up here, but barely making the Bills.
One of the funny things is that our schools don't care if you declare for the draft. If he doesn't get taken, or even if he goes late, he can just go back to school next year! He's got 3yrs of eligibility left
He was recruited by Michigan state, but decided he wanted to stay close to home.
