SHAREHOLDERS READY TO INVADE LAMBEAU / JONES BACK HOME

By Richard Ryman / GB Post Gazette

The Green Bay Packers are expecting a record 30,000 people to attend next week’s annual shareholders meeting at Lambeau Field, but this week the team is going to the fans.

The Packers, including team President Bob Harlan and players Donald Driver, Bubba Franks and Rob Davis, are on a Tailgate Tour around the state, mixing planned events with spontaneous stops.

“Itââ €šÂ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢s great. We are dropping in on people unannounced. Anywhere we see a lot of kids,” Harlan said Wednesday as the bus crossed southern Wisconsin. “We did it twice yesterday and three times today.” Harlan said:

Packers President John Jones, who was scheduled to be on the bus but underwent emergency heart surgery June 11, is recovering at home.

“Heââ €šÂ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢s resting very well,” Harlan said.

“Iââ⠀šÂ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢m not sure how soon he’ll be back. There’s no rush.”

The tour, which was in Milwaukee on Tuesday and Madison Wednesday, is headed to La Crosse today and Wausau on Friday.
