To me, this man passing on should carry way more weight than Michael Jackson.

It should also be particularily heavy to Wisconsin as he was born in Waukesha.

Jackson's got nuthin on Les Paul:

Paul is the only individual who has been inducted into the
Grammy Hall of Fame,
Rock and Roll Hall of Fame,
National Inventors Hall of Fame
AND
National Broadcasters Hall of Fame.

Most folks associate Les Paul with guitar & rightly so.

But to me - the fact that he invented multitrack recording & mixing, as well as having been from Waukesha Wisconsin - makes this a much more tremendous loss to the music industry than a certain recently deceased, single glove wearing artist.

But the press doesn't care about that. No controversy = no coverage.

RIP Les, I'll do a shot for ya tonight.

A pioneering innovator, an American original.

Thanks, Les Paul.

Years ago I saw a concert where Les Paul and Al Di Meola played a set together.....it was one of those amazing musical moments you never forget.

He also developed tape delay for broadcasts and a host of other things.
Not bad for a high school drop out!

A toast then. To Les.

Got my shot of "Pyrat" rum. (Note: I'm not really a rum fan, outside of the occasional Captain and Coke - mostly because we share first names. BUT - Pyrat is made by the same folks who put out Patron, I believe. Good stuff)

Alright Les,

Thanks for enhancing the lives of anyone living who ever (on any level):

played an electric guitar,
was in a band of any type,
made a musical or voice recording,
purchased aforementioned recordings,
listened to aforementioned recordings,
listened to the radio,
had pretty much any involvement with the music industry

and finally,

for still playing gigs once a week at age 94

Bottoms up. Here's you you.

Regards,

Captain Kickass
