This line is an F'n joke. pathetic. they couldn't stop a decent HS pass rush!

Poor Rodgers has ZERO chance back there an entire game. NONE.

I just don't understand how they didn't see how bad this line was in practices and let it get to this level of suck.

Good OL aren't exactly abundant in the NFL. Teams keep their own and thus few good FAs ever reach the market. Very rarely will you see a Steve Hutchinson-like scenario.

If only we had drafted Logan Mankins.....

right but there are guys who could have helped. They may not be all-world hutchinson types, but they solid guys who dont block like a tackling dummy either.

Part of the problem is that we don't need guards, we're okay for guards. We need tackles, and teams never let good Tackles go in free agency. The Tackles you see in FA are guys like Tony Moll (i.e. journeymen you look to immediately upgrade).

If we want a LT for the future, we pretty much need to draft one. During the draft I was screaming for Thompson to trade up and get Oher (right before the Ravens did), but I'm pretty happy with the Matthews pick all things being equal.

If we could somehow land a guy like Brian Bulaga (junior LT out of Iowa, they run a ZBS too) in the next draft though, that would be great.

I liked the CMII pick, but part of me can't help but think there must have been some tackles in round 2 and 3.

Recall TT was highly interested in Andre Smith. If available -- possibly chosen over Raji.

Denver is cold and it worked there.

BTW, you do know that Lombardi brought zone blocking to the pack, right?

While we are at it, do they have an assistant line coach who could get to replace Campen? It would be nice to have a line coach who actually knows what he is doing.

Tauscher and Clifton were rookies when they started for the Packers OL I believe. It wasn't until their second season they got it together and were formidable. Some of these guys have been here what? 4 years? and they still suck? Time to move on.

Sitton doesn't seem to be getting much hate mail. Is he our best lineman now?

Is it too much to wait and judge the line till Clifton is back?

Barbre has obviously improved.

DC is a guard.

Spitz is the center.

Let's judge when they are playing their best position respectively.

If 2010 is an uncapped year, there will not be a single oline FA worth signing.

jasonjwilde Ex-Packers RT Mark Tauscher is in GB after working out for the team earlier today, per NFL source. Unclear if he'll be signed.

Hopefully this works out.

All solutions should be examined.

Let's see what happens when the line is healthy. Ty has seen improvement outta Barbre.

Alex Gibbs is the line coach in Houston.

Jagodzinski ? No thanks.

I think zone blocking was first invented when some football coach somewhere said:

"Look! It's simple you knuckleheads! Block a guy in front of you that has a diferent colored shirt for chrissakes! And you...Pretty Boy! How hard is it to just run somewhere the other guys ain't? Jeez!

The rules currently will make FA a joke if the 2010 season remains uncapped. Ted might actually be the first to make a splash for a change...because the kind of guys he loves to sign will be the only ones available.

Here's the thing -- lots of folks laughed at the Vikes for spending money and bringing in Hutchinson on the OL and Allen on the DL. These are impact players who make everyone around them better. Was there anything preventing the Pack from bidding for those guys?

We've got lots of cap room, but do they give you a trophy for that at the end of the season?

I believe Eric Baranczyk is available. He doesn't have a phone in his studio, but you can reach him at the pay phone at Gas n' Sip on the corner.

Thanks P4G, we are well aware of the problems. We are fixing our pad level and will be doing more hitting this week. Colledge got taped to the goal post again. Barbre got some jock-strap itching powder this week. Sitton is young. We sat him down at the computer with some GC porn from Skin this week to see where he might be headed.

We are confident with pad-level. If not, Ted has a guy who knows a guy. Thus, we have 2 truckloads of maxi-pads coming this week to prepare for the Lions in week 6. Pad level should be solid.

Also, Ted has said, he's willing to offer a 6th rounder to the Browns for Joe Thomas...should be a done deal if Cleveland is willing to send us back a starter or two. It's obviously a done deal. Rest easy, Packers4Glory, rest easy.

No they don't give you a trophy at the end of the season. But in the middle of the season they do let you front load contract extensions with the majority of the bonus money stacked on the current season's books. That way you have a franchise QB playing for a measley 6 million dollar base salary a few years down the road. And no, they don't give out a trophy for that either, but my point is that NOT signing big name FA's allows us to keep our young stars from becoming those big name FA's everyone is gushing about. That's as good as any FA signing.

Gunny, I agree with you...

but

we just got our asses kicked by a team doing the other way with our old, used-up quarterback. :(
