Week 10

NFC

1st Round Bye
1) Saints Record (9-0) > (8-1) vikings
2) vikings Record (8-1) currently > (6-3) Cowboys

Divisional Leaders
3) Cowboys Conference Record (5-2) > (4-2) Cardinals
4) Cardinals Record (6-3) > 49'ers (4-5)

Wild Cards
5) Falcons Strength of Victory .422 > .292 Packers
6) Packers Conference Record (4-3) > (3-3) Giants

The Rest in Order:
7) Giants Head to Head win over Eagles
8) Eagles Record (5-4) > (4-5) 49'ers
9) 49'ers Conference Record (4-2) > (4-4) Panthers
10) Panthers Conference Record (4-4) > (2-4) Bears
11) Bears Record (4-5) > (3-6) Redskins
12) Redskins Strength of Schedule .296 > .259 Seahawks
13) Seahawks Record (3-6) > (1-8) Bucanneers
14) Bucanneers Conference Record (1-5) > (1-6) Rams
15) Rams Conference Record (1-6) > Lions (1-7)
16) Lions

Some notes:

a) If the Giants did not have a win over the Eagles the Packers would be in 7th position.

b) If the Packers had won against the Bucanneers they would be in sole posession of the best wild card spot.

c) 9 NFC teams are within 1 game of the Packers (6-3 to 4-5). They cannot afford to lose another game.

HUGE game against the 49ers coming up. We really cannot afford to lose another NFC game. I'll be at the Lions game on Thanksgiving so I really hope we don't lay an egg in that game, and then I'll be at the last game in Arizona so hopefully it is a meaningful game.

During the regular season, the seeds reflect how the playoffs would stand if the season ended up to that point. The NFL playoffs are not based on a pure bracket system. In the divisional playoffs, the No. 1 seed is assured of playing the lowest-seeded Wild Card survivor. There are no restrictions on intra-division games and the higher seed of any matchup will have home-field advantage.

AFC Playoff tiebreakers
Denver is the AFC West Division winner over San Diego based on head to head (1-0).
Denver earns the No. 3 seed over New England based on head to head (1-0).
Pittsburgh earns the No. 5 seed over San Diego based on head to head (1-0)
NFC Playoff tiebreakers
Dallas earns the No. 3 seed over Arizona based on conference record (5-2 over Cardinals' 4-2)
Philadelphia earns the No. 5 seed by beating the N.Y. Giants in their division based on head to head (1-0) and winning the tiebreak over Atlanta and Green Bay based on conference record (4-2 over Falcons' 4-3 and Packers' 4-3)
Atlanta earns the No. 6 seed over Green Bay based on strength of victory (.422 over Packers' .295) after the N.Y. Giants dropped out of tiebreaker based on conference record (3-3 vs. Falcons' 4-3 and Packers' 4-3).

It's really difficult for me to think of this team as a playoff contender.

I agree with you because of your OL. The rest at least has the potential for being fixed soon. And there will be some team that gets hot and surprises their way into the playoffs. I think this year that may be Car.

Packers have a CHANCE at the playoffs...all NFC opponents will be very important. Losing to Pittsburgh on the road won't hurt. IMO, the SF game is basically as much of a "must win" as Dallas was.

SF - must win
@DET - must win

BALT - could win...extra prep time helps
@CHI - could win

Should at least earn a split of BALT/CHI...CHI would be the better one to win due to NFC record.

@PIT - loss

SEA - must win
@ARI - should win...Arizona is very likely to have locked up #3 seed prior to this game, meaning Warner sees a lot of the bench.

10 wins likely gets GB a playoff spot...especially if they can sweep the remaining NFC teams on the schedule to do it. Would be funny to see GB @ ARI in week 17...then the same matchup in the Wild Card round.

Ooops!!

again my spreadsheet was correct but my finger cannot follow the straight line from left to right.

I was looking at the Eagle line when I thought it was the Giants line.

What a boob!

Here is the corrected version.

The Rest in Order:
7) Packers Conference Record (4-3) > (3-3) Giants
8) Giants Record (5-4) > (4-5) 49'ers
9) 49'ers Conference Record (4-2) > (4-4) Panthers

Cheez, you break my heart for taking us out of the WC :(

Seriously, I would love to see GB meet MIN in the playoffs. MIN has already peaked, GB has not yet. It either gives us the chance to take them out which would be complete redemption for two losses or lose a third time and fully sever all my emotions for football and cripple my spirit.

Would be a fun game. But who would you rather face first? At Dal or at AZ?

Definitely at AZ. They're undefeated on the road but have a losing record at home.

I'd still take it. I really wouldn't be looking forward to a playoff game in the temple (aka Dallas Stadium). Too much homefield advantage. Whereas in AZ, nobody cares about their team...

Over half of the NFC teams are 6-3, 5-4, or 4-5.

They all have a chance and and are ready to pounce when a team screws up like losing to the Bucanneers.

If you can't cheer for the Bears this week perhaps you pray for the Eagles to screw up.

You certainly can want the Giants to beat the Falcons.

This 49'er game is not an easy one. They are an improved team and after their Thursday game have had extra time to prepare for the Packers.

Now if I have a choice, I'd rather see GB win enough, MIN lose enough and the appropriate teams follow suit so GB ends up with a first round by and face MIN at home in the second round. Let #4 have yet another bad playoff game in Lambeau...
