The way Johnson is tearing up the league this year, it begs the question on who's the better RB.

Both have their pros and cons.

Discuss.

Even if people thought their skills were at a similar level(I don't) Johnson is not causing defenses to change dramatically to shut him down like AD.

Johnson is the player getting the ball more because he doesn't have a throwing QB like Favre. Johnson is also lightning fast and quick. Peterson is powerful, stronger but probably a step slower.

It depends what you're looking for. Johnson isn't going to run through anyway and deliver punishment the way Pete does.

i think i'd rather have peterson. bigger, stronger, maybe as fast, more durable in the long run. (no pun intended)

I don't think Peterson is as fast as Johnson. Peterson is fast, but I've seen him run down a few times (Nick Collins, Phillip Buchanon). Johnson might be the fastest guy in the NFL. Peterson is still awesome, but he seems to be a bit banged up or something. His top end speed appears to be a tick below his first two years. I thought that to myself before he was run down by Phillip Buchanon, but it might be sacrilege to state it.
:D

The fact that this is a legit question speaks to how good Johnson is. He is the fastest and shiftiest RB in the league. Peterson has the best combination of speed, power, and agility. I'd take Peterson, but Johnson has impressed.

Both are fantastic RBs, but Peterson is the guy that would really strike fear into me as a DC.

Johnson 199 carries, 1242 yards, 6.2 yards/carry, 1 fumble, 18 20+ yard runs

Peterson 205 carries, 999 yards, 4.9 yards/carry, 4 fumbles, 11 20+ yard runs

Like Peterson, Johnson sees 8 man fronts all day. Maybe even more so than Peterson.

Hard to argue that anybody is better than CJ.

I agree. While both backs are great, I gotta go CJ is the more complete back as far as running and receiving. He may not be as much as an inside runner as AP, but he's alright running between the tackles, and will bust one outside in the blink of an eye. He's got great speed which helps, but what makes him different from other extremely fast backs is his elusiveness. That was one of the big concerns that I remember about him coming out, and he proved a lot of doubters wrong on that.

Good topic.

I think AP is the more exciting player to watch and depending on how you quantify talent, probably is the player with more of it.

That said, Chris Johnson is WHOA fast and gets (to) five yards with even the slightest hole. He's there so fast and if there's anything more than that, he's likely to take it the distance.

He's dangerous. They both are.

I voted Johnson.

3-4 weeks ago I would have said Peterson. He just doesn't seem to have the breakaway speed and I've really only seem him this season against the Packers and we've shut him down.

I was incredilby bullish on Chris Johnson as the bargain RB so my bias is with him since he's carrying our NY auction league team

The idea that we're debating this shows us what a monster he is

But I still go All Day Pete

I went with Johnson.

I think he's a more dangerous weapon throughout the game. He is a very good receiver and that gives him an edge over AP. Both of them can run the hell out of the ball. Johnson with speed and AP with more power and fury.

Up until about 5 weeks ago I would have said AD. The answer is CJ now though.

Back on topic I kind of agree with Harvey's take all the way.

I'd probably take Peterson but damn, Johnson is good.

AP any day....Johnson has been a HUGE surprise and is very good...but AP all day. Look at all that talent in Viking land right now on offense. AP would have 2300 yards in the Tenn. offense right now being the sole option.
