I've often wondered if the penalty is stiff enough to prevent this kind of thing. I think the league says the injured player has to sitout the next play. With all the substitutions nowadays, that's not a very big deal.

And it is an effective way to slow down an opponent on a roll.

The Packers have no huddled in the 4 minute offense at the end of a couple of halves and I think it was one look in the gameplan against the Vikes in one game I think. But its not featured much.

He is right...they did....so what. Teams have been faking injuries to stall the no huddle since chuck whatshisname did it to the bills back in the day. Difference is chuck was blatant about it having the same 2 players fake the injury back and forth or something ridiculous like that.

This is a major reason the no huddle isn't used too much, every team has a guy that is going to come out in passing situations that can flop around for a bit then come back later. Its one of those tough situations that you can't govern and just have to let play out....sort of like the auto industry..........

I'm pretty sure this happens, and it probably happened in the Lions-Browns game, but isn't this the sort of thing that a coach should never say? You never want to accuse anybody in football of faking an injury for competitive advantage, because football is a very violent sport and major injuries happen due to seemingly minor hits and twists.

So while Mangini is probably right, you don't have to say everything you're right about and you probably shouldn't; also you might need to pull the same trick yourself sometime.

thats the only thing i can't stand about professional soccer. the dives, and the overacting. a guy will get tripped, and he'll try and make it look like his leg just snapped in 4 places and one of the parts got lodged sideways in his ass
