The Who has been booked to do the halftime show? Damn....the NFL is trying to get all the classic rockers in before they die.

If not The Who.....who would you rather have perform? 8-)

Too late. The best part of The Who partied itself to death.

I'm a big fan of Skillet (NBC Football Night in America song)....But they are a christian rock band...don't know if the NFL would go that direction. I have a TON more of groups I'd love, all christian Rock stuff.

Actually The Who is pretty good choice. They were like the 1st band to smash guitars, etc., making them a good representation of a kick butt sport

Tommy ruled, Roger D top 10 all time

lol...yeah, my thuged-out brethren are quite paying the bills for the league. Even the so-called progressive, ardent folk from my hood would be classified as casual fans revenue-wise

They are/were a great band.....Daltrey still has some pipes from what I've heard....obviously their best days are behind them as far as rock performers go (Rolling Stones Circus era) but I'm sure they'll kick some ass.

Anyone other than The Who. It's going to be the worst halftime show of all time. My picks would be Metallica, Garth Brooks, Rascall Flats, Aerosmith (again), Bon Jovi, or Carrie Underwood (So Sexy).

pearl jam doing Who songs would be better

i like the who, but they just don't have it anymore, rodger is a shell of his old self, and half the band is dead

at the vh1 honors the who or whatever it was called, the spark just wasn't there. but on the same show pearl jam delived one of the best performances i've ever seen

they honestly need to quit with this halftime shit, no one cares. it doesn't help ratings, no one is watching for the halftime show. a dog catching frisbees or just licking himself would do just as well

I fully endorse Pearl Jam. They are one of the best live performances I've ever seen(4 hours of play time and 2 encores). The energy in the crowd when they play made it by far one of the best concert experiences I've ever had.

That being said I love the Who, but it's really a day late and a dollar short as far as booking them for the SB.

I don't understand why we need a rock concert at half time to be honest. I usually don't watch it (I missed the wardrobe malfuction live) anyway.

Pearl Jam is my favorite band. Most people only see them as a grunge flameout who made Ten and then went into irrelevance. But Yield is, IMO, their best album and they haven't made a bad album yet. They do live shows better than anyone by constantly exuding energy and never playing the same setlist twice.

They are truly the last great American band.

I saw them on Austin City limits last week and they kicked ass. One of the best shows I've ever seen was a them doing a all acoustic (not really but who cares) set a few years ago.

I think it has less to do with the demographic than it does with them being a "safer" choice. They didn't do that kind of performance until Jacksongate. It used to be 10 teenybopper bands trying to squeeze into 10 minutes, but since it came out that Janet's wardrobe worked perfectly, we will see the Who because they're likely keeping their clothes on.

Love 'em. Like Vitalogy better than Yeild. That guitar riff on Satan's Bed is AWESOME. They have plenty of great tunes that would work at a Superbowl halftime. Go Pearl Jam. The Folks would hate it.

Pete has campaigned against porn on the internet. Pete had NO porn on his computer. The charges were dropped.

Pete was researching for his bio as he has stated that he believes he was molested. Robert Del Naja of massive attack was also rounded up in the sting and dropped.

Perhaps you might actually pay attention to his work, as it clearly deals with this issue. The "pinball wizard"...deaf, dumb and blind...is sexually abused by his uncle.

I guess the idea that the police could ever falsely arrest someone is outside your ability to understand.

On a sidenote, Gomer Doofus admitted to viewing images of people having sex with animals; of course, noting it was for research purposes.

Gomer claimed he was fondled by a goat while staying at his uncle's farm.

Gotta love those reseachers.

Pete probably couldn't afford high priced attorney's to sway the prosecuter to drop the charges. Yeah, that's unheard of.

Ah hell, he's Pete Townsend so I'll give him a pass too. Let 'em play. As long as I'm entertained I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

yes, i'm sure the prosecutor's went easy on him...like they did with Gary glitter.

Keep trying though. Pete was arrested on suspicion of POSSESING INDECENT IMAGES OF CHILDREN. You have to drop the charges, regardless of who your atty is when you dont' have ANY on your computer. They searched both his home and office, and found nothing.

Yes, and i'm sure that his expensive atty helped...that is why it took 4 months for them to drop the charges. You are so far off the mark it is scary.

What they found was that he had accessed a site back in 99, 4 years prior to his arrest..an arrest that they thought would garner them someone who was making and distributing child porn.

So, whose story is more credible? Yours..that he is a pedophile or Pete's. Pete who has advocated for child's rights, who has talked about the harm of porn, who has written lyrics/opera in which the main character was sexually abused, a man who openly admitted to being abused as a child, a man who freely told the police about accessing the site and what he saw, a man whose home and office turned up no child porn, a man whose multiple computers housed no child porn.

The police have arrested many wrongly on child porn charges. Do some research.

Here in Phx they were trying to arrest an artist, a woman, for her pics of her own children. Are artistic nude photos of your own children child porn. LOL

I still blame Janet Jackson for the retreads of the 60's and 70's that keep permeating the game. These bands were once titans. Now they user Geritol. The Stones were absolutely awful live a couple years back. Now I just don't watch the half time show.

My dog goes nuts for the car ad where the people chase their dogs around with squeaky toys. Maybe I'll take her to Petsmart with me this afternoon and see how she likes them live (she's rarely heard them because the older dog is afraid of them--ear issues).
