View Full Version : VEGAS HERE WE COME---SUGGESTIONS ANYBODY ??

Mrs Bretsky got us an excursion to Las Vegas for a few days at the end of this month.

For those who have recently been there, I'm wondering if you could offer some must see suggestions. I'd pay for shows if it was worth the time; as many know they are costly.

Always wanted to see O...........but at over $200 a person I keep thinking how much fun I'd have with Skin and Nutz in Milwaukee and that wouldn't cost near the $200.

We have front row tickets to the Frank Caliendo show; I think the guy is dam funny and my wife bookied front row tix. Of course I'll be wearing (sorry) the Brett Favre 2004 Pro Bowl Jersey and try to egg him on. She planned most of this for Xmas to remind me of what a great guy I am...I think

We haven't been there, sadly, in about 10 years. Last time we saw Sigfried and Roy (before the accident) and a few other shows.

Of course we'll hit the casinos and play blackjack...and my wife will get dressed up one night with her low cut outfit and we'll go play craps like da movies.......

But............anybody want to offer suggestions on any must see shows/ attractions.....would be appreciated......................

Cheers,
B

the only time i've been there was 10 years ago for the old 21st

saw Sigfried and Roy also, great show. but the best was little richard and chuck berry at the palace. those two guys were old as hell, but they could still bring it

the only advice i can give is to remember that as long as your gambling, the drinks are free. or at least they use to be

so you can come out a winner. if you lose 200 busk at blackjack, just make sure you and the mrs drink a couple hundred dollars worth of alcohol

the next day you won't even know you lost anything

oh, and i think there's some hot ass hooker out there that looks like the chick from adventures in babysitting

We've been to O and Mystere, and both agreed Mystere was the better production, though I would like to see the Zumanity one about sex. I don't recall where we got the tickets, but they were much closer to $100 each than $200.

You can probably find some deals in this if you're into that: http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?t=1288629

Instead of shows now, we just eat. I would recommend these over the others:
http://www.hashhouseagogo.com/
http://www.aureolelv.com/

Aureole runs about $100 per person with wine, but we make sure to get there once each visit. Take a look at the Hash House photo gallery and tell me you won't go.

I saw the Beatles "Love" Cirque show last time I was down there. It was better than I thought it would be.

There's tons of Broadway shows there now.

If you really want to impress the wife go to Picasso's at the Bellagio for dinner. It will run you about $500 with wine pairings but was hands down the best meal I have ever eaten.

I love the sports book at Bellagio or at The Mirage. I love spending early afternoon's in the leather chairs and dark lighting betting the ponies while recovering from my hangover.

I'm not a fan of Picasso's. I thought it was nice and all, and you can certainly eat and drink there for much less than $500, but didn't bring anything to the table I thought was unique or exceptionally awesome. Catching the fountain show at night from a window table is a bonus, but didn't give me an erection unfortunately.

The pate was out of this world. The lamb reduction sauce was to die for. The wine pairs were perfect and to be sitting next to a $10,000,000 painting pushed it over the top.

Sorry to hear that your night wasn't as exceptional.

I'm sorry, but I can't not read "to die for" without the gay accent.

There are so many great places to eat in Vegas, the only challenge is fitting as many in as possible. That is the one thing I would plan ahead though, B. Your food itinerary and budget.

We were there last May.. Stayed at the Flamingo, mid strip..

Saw Mystere and thought it was great.. Bought front row ticks at a Kiosk in the Venetian. Paid much less for the tickets, but had to go that night.

Also saw Blue Man group, that was pretty cool as well!

If you get a chance, go the Fremont Street, great place to walk around and see some sights.. They had a Woodstock / 1969 light show on the "ceiling" this past year, probably not there now..

Do NOT go to VooDoo lounge at the Rio.. Very pricey, portions not that large, and our wonderful waiter stole $100.00 from the tab..

Been to Vegas about 15 times in last 8 years (it's only 3-4 hr drive for me).

Quick trip over to the Hoover Dam to get out of the city.
Check out the 'Pawn Shop' from the television show. If you haven't seen it - it's fricken hilarious.

Phantom was very well done.

The shark exhibit is worth the money (like $10-$15).

If you're smart, get her a day spa at one of the nicer hotels. Gives you a chance to see your 'adult' shows or just gamble solo. And it's worth it when she's all relaxed. :P

You can go to Mystere for under $100. Funny story - I went about 6 years ago and was randomly selected from the crowd to be a bit actor. They picked me up in a golf cart, ran me through a fake wall and immediately dressed me in a bib, diapers and bottle. I followed the FAT baby around and did some silly shit. But a good memory.

Then make a night of just seeing the strip - the light shows, ship fights, canals, shopping.

Personally I can't stand Vegas for more than 2 days. Too much drinking, craziness, etc.
