XP versus Windows Vista and 7

I am a tech moron but can somebody give me some thoughts or if I'm nuts a solution ?

In past Microsoft Operating Systems (XP and Before) I could have mutliple browser windows open and displayed at the bottom of my screen. Each browser window would be about an inch wide at the bottom of the screen so when I wanted to jump from one Internet Location to another I could just click on the other window.

This works fine with our two Netbooks that have XP

But with our laptop on Vista and our desktop on Windows 7 only one Internet Window can be open/displayed at the same time.

Is this a new "feature" on the new OS's from Micrsoft, or is there some dam setting or way I can get this feature working like it does in XP ????

You're not using the intended "tab browsing" system implemented in all web browsers. Instead of having 10 windows open you have 1 window with 10 tabs. They are all located below the address bar in your browser.

If you want a new window instead of a tab open click CTRL and N. If you're clicking on a link and you want it in a new window instead of a tab, right click and choose open in new window.

That make sense? I've had a few tonight.

what i do for porn is keep one window with all the porn on it, i open multiple tabs just like zool explained.

then i open a whole new "dummy" window that has something like this site open

so in an emergency situation you just click on the one clean window at the bottom of the screen, then it blocks out the endless tabs of naked chicks i have in the other window

OK, are you saying at top of page below the address bar there should be list of spots I can just click on if I have a few IE windows open ?

Right now at bottom left I three IE's are almost layered over each other and when I go to point at them it gives me three options.....and I can then click on one of them............it sucks !

Ohhh I get what you mean. In 7, if you hover over the IE icon for a second you will get a small preview of the current windows.

I've never tried to turn that off. I'll investigate.

it appears Control T will cause a new window to be open at top of screen so that does work

Right click your task bar and go to properties.

Click the Taskbar Buttons drop down and change it to never combine.

Vista is a resource pig. I doubt many netbooks can run it effectively.

Well, then never mind the screen grab.

Glad it worked out.
