What if I tell you that they cannot track hang time yet?

They may not track hang time but they do factor in how many of a punters kicks were returned vs. how many weren't, either because they were fair caught, went out of bounds or were downed.

The metric they're using might be more results oriented, and is thus unable to distinguish between a bad but lucky punt that goes 30 yards and rolls an extra 20 vs. a good but unlucky kick that travels 50 yards but gets returned for a TD because of poor tackling.

For what it's worth, Ryan is in the top 5 and Kapinos is dead-assed last. Thank you, Mike Stock.

Good call indeed. But I was first thinking that the lack of hangtime tracking helps Ryan. Because if he line drives a few each week and gets a big Gross #, the Seahawks coverage may suffer a bigger return. By adjusting for different coverage abilities of the teams (they take every punt and apply a league average return to it), they are giving line drive punters a pass on compromising their own coverage.
