View Full Version : Thompson going after Cribbs?

I just heard an internet rumor that Teats is actively pursuing a trade for Cleveland's Josh Cribbs. A star return man for certain and a wildcat type of weapon.

Anyone else hear anything to substantiate this?

You mean an "Arrigo rumor" or something actually substantiated?

Would be great if so... and with the Walrus connection you know the lines of communication are at least open.

no because he started crying about the team not wanting him months ago, because they wouldn't give him a new contract during the year

his constant "its clear they don't want me", i guess i'll have to move on, poor me, this is it, i guess i'll be gone, they hate me, goodbye cleavland, i'll be gone in 9 weeks. boo-hoo, pity me. cry with me

this season was like watching a 7 year old throw a hissy fit on the floor because mommy wouldn't give him any more cookies

Have you watched the browns the last few years? Mos tlikely not, because they ahve been pretty horrible (save 2007). Still, Cribbs has been a return specialist stud, and is their only legit offensive weapon. He earned a new contract 2 seasons ago, and he still ahsn't gotten it. It's a dangerous league, and most other teams would of given him some money by now. The browns refuse to it seems. It's not like cribbs was only good this year, it's been at least 3 years of it. He doesn't even make a million dollars a year.

I don't consider it crybaby when your the best player on the entire team (outside of Joe Thomas) and pretty much the lowest payed. It's a crybaby when you are like Peyton Manning and you blame a playoff loss on the OL, isntead of on yourself. Saying that you want out and your down witht he browns because you are putting yourself out there to get hurt every week and not getting payed for being the best player they have is... yeah. It's understandable. If I were cribbs, I too would hold out for a trade. He has a high value right now, and can actually get REAL money.

Well I say trade for him...give him plenty of cookies...and watch him score TD's.

When return men like Roscoe Parrish are making 4+ million a year I don't blame Cribbs for bitching. They are paying the backup QB 7M yet the best player on the team is making under million?

BTW he is not a cancer to the team nor does he think he is bigger than the team so don't know why you are trying to compare him to those guys.

It would answer some of our ST issues but I just don't see Holmgren parting with a player like this.

Red,

You are way off base on this one.

Cribbs is playing for a loser team and performing at a pro bowl level. He has asked for a new contract and deserves one.

Think about...you have a great player who isn't trying to leave cleveland. He wants to stay.

He may have spouted off..so what. His performance on the field hasn't suffered. He hasn't been a distraction. You don't have teammates railing against him.

Cribbs knows he has a limited amount of years to play..and he wants to get paid. He came into the league unheralded, switched positions and made himself into a player. Bravo.

We would be lucky to have him.

Didnt they rework Cribbs deal last year?

I would like his skill set but AGAIN would he have given back his money if he underperformed...

*edit* nope 2006 signed a6 year extention...

Completely unsubstantiated rumor - hence my post here. I figured if anyone had heard anything besides me...the PackerRats here would supply additional "substance".

I actually have been watching the poor, poor, suffering Browns since they "re-became" a team again. One of my best friends is from Cleveland and also a Browns fan... and...well...lemme just say it really reminds me of the "Dark Years" of the Packers. I'm talking pre-Trajik Man. Its bad. Really bad.

MTV (my nick name for Cribbs) is literally their only stud player right now...save for that Wisconsin kid on the O-line, but he sure as hell ain't scoring any TD's like MTV.

If I'm Holm-boy (Nickname for M1) I pay the man and keep him around. MTV and Holm-boy do NOT see eye to eye on the price tag though. Last I heard Holm-boy made an offer that MTV laughed at.

I could see Holm-boy parting with him under the "rebuilding year" excuse depending on the return. Although every year for the Browns has been a "rebuilding" year, I think the enthusiasm the Browns fans have for just having someone of Holm-boy's caliber would allow their forgiveness in a few years after his plan develops.

If I'm Teats - I give everything except my left nut to get the guy. Imagine GB having a man who I feel is way more dangerous than Hester ever was for DaBearz, still young with plenty of upside, and extremely eager to be on a playoff bound team.

I'd be all for it. Which means it probably ain't gonna happen.

Q: How do you shut up a browns fan?

A: After using their bathroom, you simply flush the toilet and shout out "I'm taking the Browns to the bowl!!!"

Did he? If he's on a rookie 6th round contract, he has a right to bitch.

If he signed an extension, then he has not right to bitch.

I agree no right to bitch but does have a right to ask for a raise...now keep it out of the public and you have a chance of getting one :)

Pissed off players often do really well for their new team, at least for a year or two. You don't need to look any further than Favre's new found ability to play within himself and TO's play every time he switched teams (except this year in Buffalo).

It would be nice to be on the other side of that for once.

Not only that, but there are reports Cribbs was promised a contract upgrade. He didn't go public with his disappointment until that promise was reneged.

I am sure Barbre could perform just as well at LT as he did at RT. Really, he is the most interchangeable member of the GB OL!

Besides, with Clifton you might actually be giving something away, assuming he can stay healthy. That would throw this trade out of whack.
