Interesting article. Player, agent and current coaches all seem to admit that Muir got himself cut in GB, that the Packers made no mistake in letting him go. Apparently, he needed a wake-up call of sorts. Good for him that he responded well.

I remember Muir clearly outplaying Cole that Pre-Season. I was pretty surprised when they cut Muir and kept Cole. Cole established his pattern of doing very little that year. I think the the kid is being shy. He may have been out of shape, but I think the GB staff always kept Cole for his potential and it never showed.

I agree about Cole, I never understood what they saw other than size. He was usually square to the line, but always going backwards. But I do remember thinking Muir would be interesting if only because he wasn't Cole. But I remember little else.
But the article left me confused about when he made the changes to his body. He came to the Colts in 2007, so he could have done it offseason prior to 2008 or 2009. I wonder which event triggered that, the new team (2008) or the chance for the bigger bodies to start (2009)?

I remember it like the article said, that Muir showed potential when he first got to GB, but when they expected him to make a move in camp in '08, he sort of just disappeared. I clearly remember being disappointed in his play, and not being surprised when he was released. I was hoping he might get a second year with GB on the practice squad.

I was opposed to the release of Muir when it happened because I felt it left them too thin on the DL. They were already carrying Justin Harrell on the roster even though as usual he was on the sideline. My recollection is that they kept a lot of linebackers as they apparently couldn't do without Danny Lansanah. This was another case of TT cutting someone even though he didn't have a decent replacement. His biggest flaw in my opinion.
