I know it's early, but apparently never too early to predict Super Bowl victory...

Odds to win the 2011 Super Bowl XLV

1. Indianapolis Colts 13/2
2. San Diego Chargers 8/1
3. New England Patriots 10/1
4. New Orleans Saints 10/1
5. Pittsburgh Steelers 11/1
6. Dallas Cowboys 12/1
7. Green Bay Packers 12/1
8. Minnesota Vikings 12/1
9. Philadelphia Eagles 16/1
10. Baltimore Ravens 20/1

Only one NFC team has better odds than the Pack to reach the Super Bowl(Saints), but they're also tied with the Vikings and Cowboys.

In other words, all of this year's playoff teams minus Arizona and the Jets make the top ten. How original. Minus Warner I can understand downgrading the Cards into the bottom half of the league. But at this point why on earth would the 2010 Ravens be considered more likely to reach the SB than the Jets? Rex Ryan must generate a lot of hatred.

In any case, I would just like to bet what is left of my IRA that these ten teams will NOT be the top ten teams in the NFL at the end of 2010.

Why is there such a league-wide media hard-on for the Chargers. Sheeesh.

If your IRA is like mine, it wouldn't meet the minimum wager limits!

Good point. Mine is probably in much worse shape because I listened--longer than I should have--to some accountant telling me that medium risk investments were safe because I would have plenty of years to recoup any shortterm losses.

I don't understand the Patriots being rated as high as they are either. Plenty of players past their prime. Including perhaps, the QB.

Because there IS an east coast bias and the Chargers are the only really consistently good team way out west.

I'm not sure it is them as much as it is their crappy division. They have a better chance than most of just reaching the playoffs due to their crappy division foes. Having a better chance of reaching the playoffs gives you greater odds of advancing in the playoffs.

ESPN last night was reporting the Packers at an 8/1 chance now.

Interesting. Do you remember who was ahead of them in the odds?

I haven't seen anything other than 12-1. I did see NFC odds of Saints at 3-1 with Packers, Vikings, Eagles and Cowboys at 5-1.
