SEASON OUTLOOK

The biggest question for the Packers during the offseason was whether QB Brett Favre would return for another season. Well, he has, and will look to put his disappointing performance of last year behind him.

So far, Favre is showing he still is among the NFL's elite passers and still has something left in the tank. And at age 36, Favre continues to represent the Packers' greatest hope for offensive success, which won't be easy to achieve after the departure of game-breaking receiver Javon Walker.

The Packers hope the addition of new head coach Mike McCarthy can go a long way. He has worked with Favre in the past and might have played a part in Favre's return. McCarthy's biggest chore is maximizing the production of an offense while his aging QB still has something left in the tank. And certainly it won't hurt if Favre's supporting cast is stronger and more physical as well.

CAMP QUANDARIES

The Packers will take full advantage of the speed and range of Hawk by starting him at weakside linebacker. But they'll also try to capitalize on his tremendous versatility by leaving him on the field as a middle linebacker in their dime scheme and on the strong side in their nickel package.

How healthy is the team's running game?

Running backs Ahman Green and Najeh Davenport are still recovering from serious leg injuries, but are on track to be back on the field during training camp. When, though, hasn't been determined. But the Packers still have a healthy Samkon Gado who filled in nicely last season.

With Favre back, how does Aaron Rodgers fit into the Packers' scheme?

The buzz among Packers players is uncertainty over whether Rodgers has the goods to be the future starter. He still must prove himself, but he has not shown he is ready to take over when Favre finally calls it
