It's not on the north wall. It's not even in the ring. No ceremony, no fanfare, nothing.

Does he even know about this?

I had rather hoped that the Packers would give #4 to the 2nd string punter every year until Brent had been retired from the NFL for ten years, say...when he turns 75.

I am a little surprised that GB has no OL among its retired numbers. Not Jerry Kramer. Not Forrest Gregg. I wonder if Gregg's adventures as an NFL head coach might have cancelled out his accomplishments as a player.

If it is true they officially retired his #, the are just waiting till favre is done for good to hold the celebration. They most likely felt it was best for the team to not have a #4 running around in practice, where that player may get asked what it feels like wearing #4 in GB.

I mean, it was always a given his # would be retired, most just felt they would wait until the point is reached they could hold a ceremony, but it looks like they jumped the gun. I guess it makes since, if favre has another great year and they win a sb over in viking land, there is a chance he would get his # retired. Hell, the whole team might. Thats SB #1.

It says they've announced that they're going to - that doesn't surprise me. I would think they're just not going to issue the number for the next decade or so, until he retires, then officially retire the number.

The other site I posted made it seem like the number was already retired.

...a 2nd string punter with a last name like "Butthole." Then sell his jersey in the pro shop.

I'm on record as supporting this in the BFFF thread. I also think they should send out a frisbee catching dog with a #4 vest on. Maybe put a #4 on the mayonnaise in the condiment race between the 3rd and 4th quarter too.

Ah, but didn't you hear that the number 4 recently announced it was not sure whether it wanted to stay retired?

HAHAHAHA that'd be the best. They should retire the number and then unretire it give it to Butthole the punter, then retire it again next season.
