Just looked at a website that listed total 2010 salaries.

1st - Oakland $152,400,000 I think a lot of this is the cutting of J Russell

MINN - $133,400,000
NYJ - $116,900,000

28th GBP - $94,000,000

I guess younger players are on their first contract and are a lot cheaper. Amazing that we have the talent we have at such a low cost.

Another interesting note was that Havner made $260 more than Finley in 2009 with $391,110.

Can you link that page? Those look like cap numbers...?

I seem to recall seeing something in the offseason which listed what may have been total payroll, which may be different than what's listed on that list you're looking at. The Packers were like 6th highest in the league. That was before Driver and Wood were re-upped. I'm sure much of those deals will be paid this year.

I'll see if I can find it.

Thanks for that. I stand corrected.

Corrected about what? I think you were right. Those are "cap" numbers that are artificially high for some teams who used the uncapped season to dump players and accelerate cap hits.

I think that's right. The fact that the Packers are so low on the list is proof that TT hasn't signed guys to huge contracts who he then had to dump. I suspect that a list of team salaries that includes just players on the active roster would have the Packers considerably higher.

There's no "as of" date on that list either that I saw. It's possible that could have been from prior to the free agent period. The Packers have spent significantly since then.

Hard to believe there was a time when we were so far over the cap we had to let good players go...
