Not a lot of details but sounds like the Vikings are looking at a blockbuster trade.

Have to think that is Vincent Jackson

Favre for Randy Moss straight up.

if they make a block buster trade they really are going "all in" for this season...

They have to. Favre and Pat(?) Williams will be gone next year (if there is a next year). This is their last shot for a while, so after seeing the failures last night, a bold move makes a lot of sense for them.

With any luck they will make the trade, fail miserably and loose a high draft pick or two for the future.

If it's Jackson, they might not have him until mid-season either. I don't know how a trade might affect the roster-exempt classification.

In August, the Chargers placed Jackson on the roster-exempt list, meaning he can't play for three games after the date he signs and reports to the team. Jackson also has been suspended by the NFL for the first three games for violating the league's substance-abuse policy, and there is a debate about whether he can serve the sentences concurrently.

Maybe after seeeing Favre looking like a tired 65 year old in the 2nd half, they decided to trade for a QB? I bet they could Rosenfels for a 2nd round pick.

I think it will be a 1st, a 3rd, and a 5th for Roy Williams...

Or maybe Chilly will do what TT "fell asleep" trying to do, and trade for Randy Moss.

Hopefully, they will follow their own example from the Herschel Walker trade, or the Packers' example from the John Hadl trade!

The source of the rumors said the player they are trying to acquire is not Randy Moss, but he didn't say who it was.

The Bears were nice enough to do this for us, why not the Viqueens?

They might need a 1st, but it would be worth it. Everyone knows that he is way better than TJ.

wow, what i saw last night was not a lack of talent at WR, it was a complete lack of favre being on the same page with his receivers other then shiancoe

and IMO that comes from favre's holdout for all of training camp and pre season. like i said in the game thread, brett might not have needed the camp but the players around him sure needed the time with him to get on the same page

and if you bring in vincent jackson(who is suspended for at least 3 games and maybe up to 6) or some other WR its going to take time some them to get in sync with favre

i'm loving this, not only is favre sending them at top speed to the poor house, but he's going to make them give up their future to win now

what i saw last night was a mess of a team on offense that needs a lot more then one more big player to fix whats wrong with them

You mean the trade where Devine traded 2 1st round picks, 2 2nd round picks, and a 3rd round pick for a washed up veteran? That trade?

It was a rumor from Lake one of the DJs. I still think its Vincent Jackson and I would think that he could come back after the suspension.

Trivia question: Which coach did the Packers also consider and almost hire, but rather, elected to go with Devine in 1971?

WOW, i had never heard he was a candidate. do you think he would have left PSU? i guess he turned down jobs with the steelers and michigan and a job including part ownership with the pats.

imagine having lambeau, lombardi and joe-pa has head coaches

That may well be the worst trade ever, ever, ever in Packer history - hell, in NFL history. In sports history. In the history of all trades in the universe. I was fourteen years old when it happened, and even I knew it was stoopid.

But what makes it worse is this quote from Devine: ""We had a lot of discussions," he said. "We were thinking about Archie Manning of the Saints, too."

Manning could play. For those of you old enough to remember, he was a hell of a QB with no talent around him. If you're going to give up two firsts, two thirds, and a second, can't you at least get Archie Manning, and not a washed up 34 year old QB??

BTW, I had forgotten that Norm Snead was still in the league. He was a pretty good qb, but damn old by then.

Vikings | Not looking to add a WR
Comment (0)
Fri, 10 Sep 2010 16:55:43 -0700
Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress said the team is not looking to add another wide receiver after the team's receivers did not make a big impact in Week 1, Judd Zulgad, of the Minneapolis Star Tribune. "I'm not thinking that way right now," Childress said. "I'm not thinking about adding another body. I know those guys weren't as involved as we would have liked them involved. But I think it had something to do with how they were kind of playing their coverage."

I think Joe Arrigo is a source for KFAN. They also reported last week that TJ Houshmanzadeh was signed by MN.

I'm sure they'll settle down and find their rhythm, but Vikings seem like a team in disarray right now.

Part of me has a suspicion Favre won't be around to see Rice's return to the field.
