Well this would hurt way worse than losing Burnett. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Injuries will de-rail a season long before anything else does.

I hope it doesn't happen, but the article didn't talk about losing them for the year yet. Let's hope their second opinions go well.

I heard that on MM's presser today. He said he doesn't expect Chillar to be out all year. FWIW.

Barnett played after hurting his wrist so hopefully they're just trying to figure out the best way to get him bandaged up.

Collins was also out and not sure if he'll be able to play on Sunday.

Tauscher was out with a shoulder injury. Bulaga took RT reps at practice today.

At the rate this is going, they may need 35 a game just to have a chance to win.

Not sure. Would require at least checking the Samkon Gado season, i remember that year being really, really bad in terms of injuries.

Barnett and Chillar, on top of Grant, maybe Burnett, Harris missing time?!? :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang:

Was that the Colts? Sanders alone is consistently good for at least 8 games in the "starter games missed" category. Or maybe the Bears with S Mike Brown. Or both teams!

Anyway, I like the perspective and the point I think you are alluding - starter games missed is significant, but not an absolute deal breaker.

More like the doom and gloom forum. No happy threads here lately, it's getting old. I still think we can go far, all homerism aside. Injuries are part of the game.

After surgery? The Al Harris school of recovery.

edit: In case anyone misunderstands......Harris asking to have his splean removed if it means he can play.

You don't play until your surgery heals dudes......

If Barnett takes the year off because he hurt his wrist, I am personally going to find him and anally rape him. I feel the need to specify anal rape since he obviously sports a giant vagina... in his soul.

No that's not right. I love vaginas, and they've gotten this negative connotation with being a pussy. Having a vagina shouldn't be confused with being a pussy.

Anyway, WTF does Barnett need his wrist for anyway? The guy's always waving his idiotic arms in the air trying to correct for his bad angel caused by a total lack of instinct and stupid hair, so a cast should help balance him out, and it's not like he's actually tackled someone the right way in 4 or 5 years now.

Bad news. At one time I was optimistic about Bishop but the dude looks lost when he plays. Clearly lost confidence since starting the preseason game and failing.

Thank goodness Hawk was not traded. Expect more teams to attack the A gaps.

I'm feeling really down about this season. I know it's early, but for crying out loud.

Grant. Harrell. Burnett. Possibly Barnett. Gone for the year.

Chillar - who knows? Harris, Bigby. Missing the first six games AT LEAST.

This is ridiculous.

I agree. I expected some injuries, but this is just too much to overcome. Might be time to re-evaluate my expectations.

I blame this all on RG and his thread that the Packers should be able to overcome any amount of injuries and still go 16-0.

Wow, what a way to start a season as SB favorites.

I guess we will find out how good TT is as GM as he adjusts to all this bad news.

It's really a shame that everything is happening so early in the season. It really helps to highlight how great the team was last year to come so close to the NFC Championship game.

THere was a Sherman year where Clifton and Tauscher both ended the season on IR I believe, they were dropping like flies that year. Does anyone remember the injury story from that year?

Good god, skin. That was a hell of a rant!!

It was 2002. 6 guys ended up on IR, but a bunch more were banged up and missed significant time. We had 8 defensive starters who missed a lot of time, but I don't remember all the details.

On IR were Bhawoh Jue, Najeh Davenport, Scott Frost, Mark Tauscher, Chad Clifton, and Joe Johnson.

That was the year we moved Flanagan to LT and had a very old Earl Dotson at RT. We went 12-4, losing in week 17 to the Jets in the Meadowlands and then losing to Vick & the Falcons in the first week of the playoffs.

Here's a blurb I found in a quick google search:

Green Bay, for example, shares the best record in the league even though the Packers have lost 14 starters to injuries for an average of four games. Eight Green Bay defensive starters have missed time due to injury; seven of them missed at least two games.

Damn sherman for not throwing the challenge flag when the punt hit ATL's helmet and was subsequently fumbled by the punt returner.

That was a hard season. Sapp's cheap shot on Clifton was brutal.

If I remember correctly, that team got off to a great start before the injuries took its toll. By the end of the year, the team was a shell of what it was at the beginning. By the end of the year, it wasn't a 12-4 caliber team. They were losing a lot more and barely beating bad teams at the end of the year. Thus, the early playoff exit.

Maybe he will be like 80-90%? After watching him talk to reporters a couple days ago it seemed like the injury wasn't that painful. He said he feels fine and doesn't think it would be a season ending injury. Him being out for season is probably just so he doesn't further damage whatever problem he has with it.

Btw, did they say what the problemis exactly?

Barnett tweeted today that he got another scan and is meeting with the Doctor again. Presumably, since he flew back from Indy, that means McKenzie. He is not with the team in DC.

Nothing specific, but if he had accepted he was done for the season, you would have expected a confirmation, not another scan and meeting message.
