Ok, some are ducking from the falling sky, and some are putting on Rose colored glasses. I decided to cite some things for debate regarding this team.
Arguments for us being good:
1) We haven't been blown out of a game despite injuries galore. We have some of the key players coming back.
2) We haven't called enough running plays to be successful.
3) We have lost in OT against good teams coming off a bye week twice. Its not easy to beat good teams coming off a bye week.
4) We got hosed by penalties (many correctable, many bad calls) in our other loss.
Arguments for being bad:
1) We have lost some big contributors for the season. Finley changes the offense, Barnett was our best rounded LB. Grant is our best runner. Thats a lot to overcome.
2) We are blowing leads and failing to finish and losing the ST battles in nearly every opportunity.
3) For a combination of reasons our QB is holding the ball too long and getting hit too often. Always a recipe for failure.
Feel free to add to either list or discuss ad length.

My views are tinted by the recent past. This feels like 08 right now - close games, but loss after loss after loss.
But it doesn't have to be that way, I know. It's just that all those injuries piling up are killing this team, say what you will about the coaching.

They are good because;
they have the greatest fans in the world.
they're not the Vikings, da Bears, the Cowboys,or any other team that we love to hate.
there are no over-bearing loud mouthed me first stars in the locker room.
with a call or a tad of luck going our way, we're 6-0-
their home field is a football pilgrimage site
they have assembled pretty great depth at key positions
They're bad because
Slocum coaches ST and they suck
Masthay can't punt when the pressure demands it
Crosby can't win one for the Gipper, despite his leg
Campen coaches the OL and apart from Sitton, no rookie lineman will make the pro bowl.

1a. We have a mediocre to poor offensive and special teams coaching staff. We have a GM that doesn't put us over the top. We aren't playing to our strengths and making dumb mistakes. We keep finding ways to lose.
1b. We been without our starting running back for three of the losses, our top two tight ends for one and a half of the losses, our right tackle for two of the losses, our entire defensive line rotation for two of the losses, two ILB's for two of the losses. We've played three different nickle backs. We've played five different LOLB's. We've played four different safeties.
1a. We are 3-3 (Average)
1b. We are 3-3 (Good)
2a. We've lost 3 games by 3 points each (Average)
2b. We've lost 3 games by 3 points each (Good)
3a. We've lost two games in OT (Average)
3b. We've lost two games in OT (Good)

first, Clock control is one of the major reasons our team has lost the past three games and almost lost the Lions game. Clock control is two sided. It's stopping the run on defense and having long offensive drives. I feel that our problems this year have every bit as much to do with our inability to stop the run as it does with our inability to run. Our defensive line is beat up, we have only had one defensive lineman on the bench for a few of our games this year, because of Jolly, Harrell, Neal, and Pickett. Last year our defense was excellent because they stopped the run. We put teams into long 2nd and 3rd downs and our ball hawking secondary was able to make plays, because the other team was in obvious passing downs. We simply aren't doing that this year.
second, We SUCK on 3rd down. On defense we're allowing 40% of 3rd downs to be converted. On offense we're converting 36% of 3rd downs.
That is average.

The record says the Packers are, right now, average.

The record says the Packers are, right now, average.
And that is the bottom line. 3-3 average teams have potential to go either way depending on whether or not they fix their problems or exacerbate them.

Here is reason to be concerned if we keep playing average and making stuppid mistakes
We've played the Jane's
now we play the Tarzan's

Vikings and Cowboys are both Jane's this year. We have 1 Tarzan before the bye week. The Jets.
