My birthday present this year was that jersey (#21).

I'm sorry, but that's some ugly stuff right there.
But if it's a throwback to 1929, I would hope some fans will show on Sunday in raccoon fur coats, waving pennants.

If we win they'll look nicer.

I love the Packers regular jersey so much I don't know why we have to ruin one of our games playing in these things. Maybe if you're the Seahawks or Broncos and don't care if you look stupid, but we are the Packers!

Man you guys gotta pussy up. This is football not New York fashion - throwback football no less. Going back to the Packers' first world championship... Ugly is good.

Fritz talking aobut the fur coats reminded me of a pretty good vid of Packer/Green Bay history that has some footage of the times.

I don't know about the fashion, but Matthews should grow the mustache that guy in the middle of the first photo had instead of long hair.

And I like the throwbacks, though I am less sure about the brown helmet. I think they should do the ACME PACKERS next year.

Jones and Nelson look about identical in size. Both are listed at 6'3'', but Jones is listed at 242 lbs and Nelson at 217. I don't see 25 pounds on Jones over Nelson.

I like the fact that the Packers are honoring our first NFL Championship team with these jerseys. Its too bad they had to enlarge the circle to conform with today's number sizes. And it is just for one game. After looking at that Packer uniform site we wore blue for more years than I thought.

I love these uniforms and wish we could keep them as the regular ones. I love the completely different throwbacks we wear on occasion.

while the helmets looked like poop, we didn't play like poop, so Im thankful. Terrible uniforms. Old era's just don't translate well to the modern era.

As throwback uniforms go, those weren't bad. The brown helmets didn't really work, but I guess that was the color of the leather helmets they wore back in 1929.

I really don't like the throwbacks, and I hope we don't see them again. I have two reasons:

1) I really don't like it when a team's colors change because they put on the alternate uniforms. You can change the emphasis (e.g. the Dolphins' orange jerseys) or the shade (e.g. the Chargers' power blues), but don't change the colors.

2) Blank helmet shells simply don't look good. I understand that the Packers throwback helmets were supposed to mimic the old style leather helmets, but the problem is that old-style leather helmets were given visual texture just due to their construction, but modern plastic shells are just smooth. If you really wanted to mimic the old style leather helmet, you should try to mimic the visual texture of the leather helmet with something on the modern shell. The helmets currently worn by the Michigan Wolverines are an attempt at this, as they're a reference to the way their leather helmets were made, with alternating blue and yellow strips of leather.

But NFL rules prevent a team from introducing a new alternate uniform for 5 years, so we're stuck with these as alternates until 2015... but if we're going to do an alternate jersey, why not try to do something along the lines of Ron Wolf's proposed uniform redesign, where the Green is a deeper green and the gold is actually gold, and not yellow. I'd be interested in seeing how that actually looks.

I think they should keep the uniform colors the same but should shoot the games in black and white.

"Unwashed". Does this mean I can buy Howard Green's pants with crotch sweat intact? AND I can spend up to $8000 for them? YAY!! [/sarcasm]

I think at some point, you just have to say "no". And "no" means "no": not "use more force".

No respect for Jarrett Bush, even from the Packer's Pro Shop! His uni and helmet are $800 each, the lowest price point - other uni's at that amount are guys who didn't see the field, or rookies who are on ST only - Josh Gordy, Francois, Crabtree. Swain and Underwood's are $1500. I think Bush is the only non-rookie to have his gear priced at $800!

btw only Rodger's gear is $8k. Jennings, Driver and at $7500

edit: Rodger's stuff is gone...guess someone bought it!

I don't have a problem with having a throwback uniform for one game. Its not like we are scrapping the green and gold. We have a proud history and it is good to recognize it.

In this case I would have liked to see them keep the modern helmets. They would have worked well with the rest of the uniforms, and as noted above the ones they used didn't really capture the look of the old leather ones anyway.

My thoughts exactly, seeing them in another uniform, never mind a horrible looking one detracts from the game for me. Not sure I can justify why but it does...?

Apologizing for his weak Photoshop skills, here's how Chance Michaels of "The Wearing of the Green (and Gold)" (http://packersuniforms.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2010-06-03T10%3A56%3A00-04%3A00&max-results=10) envisioned a helmet improvement.

You didn't read that article that was circulating around here a few months ago which revealed what the pros really do to their uniforms, did you?

Yeah, read it, and another one similar to it a long time ago on ESPN's Page 2. Thus the sarcasm on wanting to purchase a game worn UNWASHED jersey. Ooooh! Ooooh! Can I get the one with the brown splat in the back?!!!!
