Wow - neither team has completed a 3rd down. Wonder if that's ever happened in an NFL game? Gnarly.

Flynn with a run for first down for what it's worth.

Anybody's else's heart stop on that play?

Wow...

Lions have 0 points, 0 3rd down conversions, 0 passing yards... and are only down 3pts.

Redzone INTs are killers. Gotta tell Flynn to shake it off and do what he was doing until that play.

MM has a lot of faith in the passing game and a lot of faith in flynn. first offensive drive was not run heavy as expected. Flynn has his dumb mistake behind him, this is his time to MANAGE the game and win

Bretsky
12-12-2010, 02:14 PM

McCarthy manages according to what you should be able to the opponent. That was why it was deep passes early, though not all those passes were his call (3rd and short, etc.)

Sometimes, you need to do what you do well first.

Logan should have caught that in the end zone and ran it out against our special teams

It might be the Lions best chance to score a TD

Fosco33

Sometimes, you need to do what you do well first.

I get that, and don't disagree, but it is never apparent that McCarthy has a "backup plan" in case what you should be able to do doesn't work. Well, other than toss bombs around... I guess.

Bretsky

In the first packerrat Packer game outing, many did not have faith in Aaron Rodgers yet

For those who were there, you have the opportunity to meet an always wired....Madtownpackerbacker. Very Cool guy....fast talking dude....could see him being a chick magent in Cali

The whole weekend he was yelling Flynn to Win; the mre we drank and walked bar to bar the more he yelled Flynn to win. He didn't have faith in AROD yet and was chanting this because he thought Flynn would take us to the promise land

Looks like this weekend he has a shot

Hello offseason - nice to meet you.

Most talented non-playoff team - coming into a possible strike season. classic.

The Lions... 10 straight to the Pack, 19 straight to the NFCN. And you lose to a 2 win team.

Classic trap game.

Big turnovers, big mistakes - all around shitty game. No winners in this one (except maybe Masthay).

as lucky as chicago has been, they still have equal or better defense than we do. ST they have a HUGE edge and thats how they beat us the first time aside from penalties.

I'm not sure it's rational to say that the stock of a QB who played behind a sieve of an offensive line is down. If the team around him was playing well, and he didn't produce, then perhaps your point would be valid. I think the play of the offensive line makes it difficult to really evaluate Flynn today.

A lot can be said to defend Flynn tonight, bad OL, not enough reps & bad calls by Stubby but Flynn simply didn't deliver on that 81 yard drive and threw the pick hence Lions drove for the lead and the win. But talent always shines - I saw meek talent tonight. Flynn looked toothless as in all of his pre-season games. Flynn can manage an offense but hasn't got "it" (as of now). Late blooming isn't out of the question.

Overall, they have played better this year. That being said, they are still not good. The quality of the players is the best that it has been since Wahle and Rivera left, but they don't play well together.

I believe that we are lacking a quality LG and perhaps a RT. Based on where you drafted Bulaga, you have to let him play at LT next year. If he doesn't make it there, we have a quality RT for years to come, I'd think. I do not believe that our LG is on the roster. Our RT (Lang), might be. Time will tell.

Long way to go. the OL has been our achilles heel for 4 years running now.

Boy, the OL's performance tonight and last week against SF was disturbing. I thought they were heading in the right direction but both teams got constant pressure w/o blitzing. I dont know about anyone else but it seemed to me that Buluga watched his guy hit or chase our QB most of the day today. Not a very good game by him, hopefully he will bounce back.

I disagree. From the start, there have been those who felt that Bulaga's best position is LG, and that he has the potential to be a Pro Bowl player there. If that's the case, putting him there and drafting another Tackle this year might make sense. Whatever they do, I think they need someone better than Colledge at LG, and won't improve much as a unit until they do.

Maybe you're right. But I don't think you make that move without letting him wash out at LT. But you make a great point. That's kind of what happened with Gallery in Oakland.

Colledge is definitely the weak link on the line, but Wells isn't far behind. Today really exposed him for what he is, and that's marginal. Love the guys effort, if we could give that effort to Colledge we'd really have someone who could play, but Wells is not capable of playing against Suh now, and the guy is a rookie. Give Suh another year, and, well lets not go there.

That was a call I understood at least, even if it didn't work. They had gone done the field using pass only and shotgun with no huddle. Need 1.5 yards for a first, run out of shotgun (I think, I was on radio by then) makes sense with 3 TOs and in their half of the field.
