Packers to make Lambeau safer after Collins slipped on concrete

Nick Collins' Sca Collision With A Lambeau Field Retaining Wall During Saturday's Scrimmage Has Prompted The Green Bay Packers To Cover More Of The Concrete Path That Runs Around The Outside Of The Field.

Collins Lost His Footing When His Cleats Skidded Off The Concrete, Sending Him Crashing Into The Wall In The Northeast Corner Of The Stadium. He Jammed His Back And Sat Out The Remainder Of The Scrimmage But Appeared To Be Ok On Monday.

General Manager Ted Thompson Said On Monday He Has Asked The Grounds Crew To Extend The Outdoor Carpeting That Runs Behind The End Zone, Where The Players Jump Into The Stands For The Lambeau Leap After Touchdowns.

"we Have A Little Outdoor Carpet On The End Zone Part Of It, But It Cuts Off At About The Back Of The End Zone Line," Thompson Said. "we're Going To Do Our Darnedest To Extend That. As People Run Corner Routes And Out Routes Down In The Red Zone, It's A Little Bit More Dangerous, So We're Going To Rectify That."

The Wheels Were In Motion By The Time Collins Spoke To Reporters And Said He Hoped The Team Would Cover The Concrete Areas.

"a Man That's Running Full Speed Is Liable To Hurt Themselves On That Concrete," Collins Said Between Training Camp Practices On Monday. "i Think If They Look At The Film, They'll Know What To Do. I Won't Have To Say Too Much."

Thompson Wasn't Sure Whether The Additional Carpet Would Be In Place Before The Aug. 19 Home Preseason Opener Against The Atlanta Falcons. Most Stadiums Have Concrete Paths Around The Outside Of The Field That Are Used To Move Equipment To The Bench Areas.

"it Doesn't Even Have To Be Wet, And You'll Slip," Cornerback Jason Horton Said. "they Don't Make Cleats For Concrete. If You Walk Out On The Street Wearing Cleats, You're Going To Slip And Fall, And (collins) Was Running.

"cleats And Concrete Don't Go Together. They Should (cover It) Before Somebody Gets Injured."

GO PACKERS !

I'm glad it didn't cost us on that play involving Nick.
