Who do we play in the NFC Championship game: Bears or Seahawks?

I say Bears!

Bretsky
01-09-2011, 12:53 PM
so we made the playoffs; let's get ready to rock.

What always occurs to this team right when everybody starts feeling good about the Green Bay Packers ? Time to get your dreams ready to shatter.

You've been hearing all the whispers............most dangerous team in the NFC.......most explosing......biggest threat....yadayadayada

Nevertheless, this game is probably going to be a barnburner. Da Pack looked great against Phily weak one.....UNTIL....VICK da GREAT (quoting a PR legend) came into the game

Wake up boyz...we're going to see a lot of the same thing today again.

On defense, we're just simply not fast enough to contain Vick within the pocket on a consistent basis. I don't buy we're getting a healthy Cullen Jenkins back but if he is that should help. But Vick da Great is going to break our contain and when we cheat up he'll expose us in the secondary by hitting Maclin or Jackson deep. You can also count on Andy Reid, one of the top five coaches in the NFL, to devise some schemes to get Slim Shady McCoy in open space and/or with LB's trying to cover him. This is a classic matchup; Reid vs the Dominator. Dominator will do well to keep Phily under 24 pts............if that's the spread I'd still bet the over

On offense, to be honest, Rodgers should really have his way with these guys. Asante Samuels, one of the top CB's in the NFL, has been playing hurt for a long time now and can be exposed in his current state. The rest of that secondary can be had. Knowing this, McDermott is going to bring the house and do it often..........even though he knows Rodgers is one of the best in the game vs. the Blitz. We're not going to be able to run..........but newsflash.......we suck there and MM knows it. So AROD will probably throw around forty times today and have a stellar game. Jennings should be huge, and Jones, Driver and Nelson will have opportunites.

Truth be told, Vegas has this one right. It's an even game. They give three pts to the home team and Phily is favored by 2.5pts.

So what does this one come down to ? Close Game.......................ssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Special Teams, turnovers, and Coaching.......and the Eagles have the edge there

Akers is one of the best in the business.........a tad bit better than Crosby.......but we've still got Slouch Slocum and they still have DESEAN "I sure am happy to drafted Jordy Nelson
ahead of you" JACKSON

Expect our coverage units to get roasted one to two times
Expect a near flawlessly coached game by Reid with some PR stallions questioning the run abondonment of MM
and expect a turnover or two that along with the above points ends the Packers season

PHILY 34
PACK 33................Crosby nails four field goals

LMOA; have you even stopped from last night yet ??

i took a few hour break

i look at the first game a bit different. everyone says if vick would have played the whole game we would have lost. i say DOm had a game plan to deal with Kolb, a pocket QB and no threat to take off and run. if we knew we were going to face vick, then our whole defensive gameplan would have been much different.

and plus we lost grant in the second quarter of that game, messing up anything we were planning on offense.

things might be different with proper planning

Beating a good team twice on their home field is next to impossible...

But after watching the Seahawks dominate the Saints - anything is possible.

In order to win:
1. Win turnover battle - I think we'll get one INT and force a fumble
2. Spy Vick - maybe Walden/Woodson?
3. Put pressure on Vick and force some early throws
4. Play with high tempo and energy
5. Play to win (not to not lose)

My bold prediction-

Pack 31
Eagles 23

Eagles get early lead, then Packers roll

Come on, this is the playoffs. Preparation, preparation, PREPARATION ! !
You have to be thinking ahead.
Know your responsibilities. Perform your responsibilities!

I noticed you were posting last evening until nearly 11:00 pm. How difficult would it have been to wait until after midnight and start the official game day thread? Or, rising just a few minutes earlier would have done the trick.

I sincerely hope The Packers can overcome your lack of preparation, although I sense your concern in your prediction thread!

Green is a bit of a surprise. They must value Wynn's quickness over Greens bulk with Vick on the other side.

Kicking difficulties:

According to the JSO blog, winds are strong at the north end, and Akers missed 3 of 4 from 48 yards warming up. On the south end he kicked 58 yarders well beyond the end zone. Crosby got good distance at the south end, too.

Brando19
01-09-2011, 02:43 PM
My 3 biggest concerns today in order:
1) Containing Michael Vick
2) The wind. I hope A-Rodge is able to do his thing.
3) Our secondary covering DeSean and Maclin.

I trust Jennings to show up when he needs to. He dropped that ball against Detroit and one last week, but he came back and made a huge catch. Made a huge catch against the Giants, too. He's the most dependable guy we got.

And I wouldn't be surprised to see Quarless, on the contrary, make a huge play for us this game. He's due.

Yep, and McCarthy would be considered an offensive genius and AR the best QB in the NFC hands down but our offensive line can't hold up. They have to find a way to win without great OL play and that will involve some 3 step drops, runs and screens mixed in.

Hopefully the legend of Jams Jones starts today the same way TO started his legend against us in the playoffs. TO was plagued with drops through his career too and he speaks in the 3rd person.

I like Bradshaw's advice, to throw. Mix in screens and short throws and do some runs, but make the center of your game the passing game. Don't do what the Badgers did. That was disgusting to see them throwing when they were picking up 5 yards plus on every run.

I really liked MM's first play. The roll out left with a good, easy throw to get in a rhythm. I don't like how often we try to go deep. 1st and 10 turns into 2nd and 10 and that almost always turns into punt.
