flucko, along with eli, IMO is the most over rated QB in the NFL

i laugh every time i hear the announcers or the pregame guys slurping him up saying "this will be his big breakout game"

Lamar Woodley........per NFL Network I think he's a FA next yea

He'd look nice opposite the Claymaker

you pissed cuz he killed your fantasy team ? Flacco is ok; he's an average NFL QB now but he has some upside

This one is going to be a rough game............I'm thinking Pitt 16 Ravens 13

So Hines Ward and Ed Reed go at it and they give Ward a 15 yard penalty. As Charles Barkley would say....that is just

I'm rooting for the Steelers, but I thought it was a good call--no matter what Deer Dumb said. Ward face masked Reed then tossed him to the ground. Reed retaliated a bit, but Ward was the instigator and did most of the damage. Dirty Ward.

Jeff Triplett;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;how does this crew get playoff games ?????

Dierdord really adds NOTHING to the games; for all the silly criticism Chucky takes for the MNF telecasts he adds plenty of knowledge into his broadcast IMO and if you love fooball and want to learn you should appreciate how much better Turico and Chucky have been than anybody in a long time

what a crazy day - tons of turnovers and pts off turnovers. Huge penalty calls.

Doesn't look like your traditional playoff football - excelling at execution.

If Steelers can hold to a FG - maybe we'll see the new OT rules.

Very questionable holding call on that punt return. I'm not sure about that defensive holding call at the goalline either. Rooting for the Steelers, but not enough that I like to seem them win because of poor officiating again (see their Super Bowl wins).

The Bears will dismantle Seattle just about as easily as the Packers did Atlanta. Of course, there is a huge difference in the quality of the opponents, so we shouldn't read too much into it!

The league, the announcers, most everyone has tried to make it sound as if somehow Seattle belonged in the playoffs. They didn't, regardless of their victory last weekend. The "On any given weekend...." adage has always held true in the NFL, and it provided for the Seattle win last weekend. This weekend, the Bears will finish them off easily.

Seems to me they've been sitting on these plays for Olsen all year long, he's had a average year otherwise. Whatever it takes. When Olsen found out Martz was going to be OC, he wanted off the team since the TE isn't big in his offense, the Bears other TE is basically a 3rd tackle.

I don't know; after the Packers impressive win last night, Lovie might want to make a point and not let up at all. He has a "thing" about the Packers (I have no problem with that) and might want to take back some of the limelight going into the Championship game. A shutout or a huge, lopsided victory will throw the Bears back into the spotlight.

Just like ARod doesn't win one without McCarthy, Driver, Woodson and Williams. What's your point? M3 is the same coach he's been all season. Truth is that I've wavered all season long; I had high expectations on behalf of the Packers. But my online ranting is but a fragment of my thoughts and sadly/greatfully you, vince, only get to follow me on PR.

Wrong again! You still feel my 2008 dissing, don't ya? Well don't - it ain't war & get over it. You're biased and I have never backed down from my McCarthy comments - I changed on calling for a trophy.

Denmark won the Euro Championship in 1992...the head coach is among the most hated in the country...and he coached a winner. I don't think I'll ever get through to you as you primarily comment on my posts on occasions as this. We don't talk since 2008...remember? How's that anyway?

This ain't about 2008. It's about you calling relentlessly for M3's head this season and saying he wasn't CAPABLE of winning a championship and would never do it. Then getting all over me when I said that couldn't and hasn't are two different things. Now all of a sudden we're Superbowl bound and M3 has somehow changed his entire style of coaching. He hasn't changed. You were just completely wrong.

I can't stand the Patriots. They're good. I'd rather seen any of these teams than them, but I can't stand Brady's arrogance.

My boss is a huge Pats fan. The last thing I want is a Pack/Pat Superbowl.

Is anyone impressed by this Bears team? To me they're mediocre at best and very fortunate to have played every good non-division team at home. Their best road win was either Buffalo or Carolina and got possibly the worst playoff team ever at home after a bye. Color me not impressed and say GB wins by at least 10 points.

Somehow, Lovie Smith always finds a way to make it difficult for the Packers, if not just out and out beat them. The Packers were fortunate to win the last game, even though the game meant a heck of a lot more to the Packers than it did to the Bears.

I doubt it will come easy next weekend.

You dabble much in politics? You my pick posts out of context & strike for the low blow. But please avoid my posting [you dont read 'em anyway] 'cos you clearly haven't catched on to my subtle posts where I admit I was wrong about Packers can't win with Stubby. They can! I do this my way and try to stay spry about it. But I do retaliate if one strikes me, especially the low blows.

You're nice to most posters & interact with most. Stick to your guns and shoot straight. I wasn't wrong in 2008 - that much is clear to me.

TT: I thought you sucked and I'm stubborn...so I guess you can change horses in the middle of the stream.

Stubby: Geez - that's harsh! Who's your advisor?

Mark "dirty" Sanchez looks like hell, but we have a pretty good one that I'm comparing him to. Similar mobility to AR but that's it. AR throws so good on the move and from various platforms. Anything other than a perfectly set pass and Sanchez misfires. Their running game is good though, and they're doing alright in manageable 3rd downs. Brady is having a tough night. Man, we need 7 here and this game is lookin good.

This team could likely win a Super Bowl with a number of other coaches. No one has said that. You DID say they couldn't win one with McCarthy. Now you've done a complete 180, jump on the bandwagon and predict a Super Bowl and are pretending you didn't say what you did. That's what's funny.

Can someone correct me on this if I'm wrong...

But didn't we see a ton of LOUSY tackling and D by some teams this weekend? The one that sticks out was Polamalu's attempt on Rice in the Pitt-Balt game. Instead of wrapping up guys go for the kill shot hit.

Also, the Seahags dropped a SURE pick 6 when the Bears were driving for their 2nd TD. Babineaux (I believe) had it in his hands and dropped it. There was NO ONE in front of him. Seahags played like a 7-9 team today.

Not a huge Jets fan. Happier to see pretty boy Brady and Belichick get knocked off. Nice to see Brady's last 3 playoff games being losses.

Jets - Jets are real. What they did to Brady and Manning, that's just scary
Pitt - Pitt is Pitt. I only watched a little of that game, but they have just enough on offense and their D is dominant.
Chi - Chicago is real. They play great special teams, rock solid defense and when Cutler is on, their offense is respectable. You have to beat them. They could beat any team any week and could win the superbowl as bad as that would suck.
GB - Packers are legit. Special pass D, good run D, Starks is coming on, AR and the passing attack is peaking right now. Special teams have been alright

Of the four remaining teams, all of them have a chance. This is one of the best championship weekends, maybe ever. These are 4 classic NFL franchises battling it off for right to be champ.

Jets - Legit - huge rabid fan base
Bears - Legit - huge idiotic fan base
Packers - Legit - huge awesome fan base
Steelers - Legit - huge fan base

The NFL is happy, I guarantee that.

These playoffs seem to prove something. Defense wins championships.

Packers - #2 points per game, #5 ypg, #5 passing 16 passing touchdowns allowed, #18 rushing 6 rushing touchdowns allowed, #2 sacks 47, #2 interceptions 24 ints 3 tds,
Pittsburgh - #1 points per game, # 2 ypg, #12 passing 15 passing touchdowns allowed, #1 rushing 5 rushing touchdowns allowed, #1 sacks 48, #5 interceptions 21 ints 3 tds
Jets - # 9 points per game, # 3 in ypg, #6 passing 24 passing touchdowns allowed, #2 rushing 11 rushing touchdowns allowed, #8 sacks 40, #25 interceptions 12 ints 3 tds
Bears - # 4 points per game, # 9 in ypg, #20 passing 14 passing touchdowns allowed, #3 rushing 14 rushing touchdowns allowed, #17 sacks 34, #5 interceptions 21 ints 1 td

I'd put them in order
#1 - Steelers
#2 - Packers
#3 - Bears
#4 - Jets

I am taking the McCarthy approach to this and saying the team that I'm worried most about is the Bears. We aren't playing any other teams this week.

The Bears aren't the most efficient passing defense, but they tighten up in the red-zone and are turnover machines. The Packers are an elite passing team. Push.
The Packers aren't the most efficient rushing defense, but they tighten up in the red-zone and are turnover machines. The bears have an elite running back. Push.

I favor Rodgers passing game vs. Bears passing defense over the Bears running game over the Packers rushing defense. So it's not entirely a push, but I'm worried that we're one mistake away from losing this game.

We can't look past this week. That would be the first major mistake we've made since losing to the Lions.

They are coached well, but IMO the Bears talent wise do not really belong. The Steelers D is there and the O is better than I think you gave them credit for.

Mendenhaal is a difference maker and Big Ben is an elite quarterback, whether we'd like to give him that title or not. The Steelers worry me more than any other team did including the ex-Patriots. Matty and Mike are big pussies in the pocket, compare them to Ben and we may have a bit of trouble getting him to the ground. I guarantee you that Woodson's flying sack, which we've seen in two consecutive weeks, would get swatted like a fly by big Ben. I know we can play with any of these teams and may be favored against them all, but I worry that we can handle Pitt for four quarters.

I really enjoyed reading the commentary from you guys on the final four teams. Thanks for the insights; JH has it pretty well nailed when he writes the NFL is happy. I tend to agree that the conference championship matchups look to provide an exceptional weekend of football, but for the first time in a long time, no clear favourite to win it all.

The team that wins the super bowl this season really has a right to brag, IMO.

The team that wins the super bowl this season really has a right to brag, IMO.

This is a great point Tar. Is this an up year or a down year in the NFL? Having no clear favorite could prove either as being right.

There were no zero or one loss teams, but there were no sixteen, or fifteen win teams.
The average losing record was 5.4 losses, which makes the average winning record 10.6, meaning this year there was a gap of 4.5 games between the top and bottom half of the league.
Last year the ALR was 3.5 and the AWR was 12.5, making the gap a whopping 8 games.
In 2008, 3.44 ALR and 12.56 AWR, with a gap of 8.12.
This year we saw very few dominant teams(teams with 12 wins or more) in New England, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, and the Falcons
and a lot of poor to mediocre teams (6 wins or less) in Buffalo, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Houston, Tennessee, Denver, Dallas, Washington, Detroit, Minnesota, Carolina, San Fran, and Arizona.

What this means to me is that the league really beat the hell out of itself this year, so I fully agree with you Tar. Whoever wins the super bowl this year does deserve the right to brag, because it was any teams game to win.
