Despite his recent Super Bowl title and MVP accolades, Aaron Rodgers still appears to have his critics.
A former NFL head coach claims that the No. 1 overall pick in 2005, Alex Smith, is still far superior to the Packers' 23rd pick in that same 2005 draft.
"Seriously, if you look beyond playoff wins, regular-season wins, passing statistics, leadership skills, intangibles and likeability, they're really pretty even," said Mike Nolan, Dolphins defensive coordinator and now the top Wal-Mart greeter in Pembrooke Pines, FL.
"Just look at their Wonderlic scores; the comparison really speaks for itself."
Nolan made his comments after watching Rodgers' Green Bay Packers defeat the Pittsburgh Steelers on a TV in the electronics section of the store; Nolan was working a double while covering close friend and former GM Terry Donahue's shift.
"He only had, what, like 300 yards? And only three touchdowns? Against Pittsburgh's defense? Without a rushing game at all? And banged-up wide receivers? Please. Rodgers will probably flame out next year and become the Trent Dilfer of the 2010s."
Smith, who was reached for comment while mopping new San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh's private bathroom, said that he really wasn't surprised people think he's better than Aaron Rodgers.
"Dude, do you guys remember that Fiesta Bowl game a few years ago?"
Despite Smith's clear cant-miss potential, former 49ers GM Terry Donahue, who was found with Dennis Erickson at a downtown Phoenix strip club, pointed out that it was simple loyalty that turned San Francisco away from Aaron Rodgers in 2005.
"Well, he was a west coast kid. Loved the 49ers, huge Steve Young fan, had all the gear when we won our 5th title. He grew up in Chico and played a pro-style offense at Cal Berkeley. Obviously, you could see he was just not committed to join our franchise."
A secondary poll also showed that the majority of women fans believed Smith was much better looking than Rodgers.
"That stupid mini-belt thing he does is so arrogant," said random NFL "fan" Tiffany Harris, who was forced to watch Super Bowl XLV despite wanting to read a book instead.
"Alex has that sexy little frustrated face every time I see him play. Aaron's always smiling all the time and jumping around; who really wants to see that?"
Aaron Rodgers could not be reached for an interview prior to the completion of this article, due to him playing in some game in Dallas over the weekend.
