Maybe he can let this be his wake up call, and rededicate himself to his profession. He looked like he might have the talent to man the nickel position before this happened, then he fell off the face of the Earth.

I didn't think he showed a thing in 2009, so he didn't drop at all in my estimation. Same player that he was last year. The Packers hoped he would change, but he didn't.

Too many comments about his lack of focus & dedication. I don't hold out a lot of hope for him. I was actually more encouraged by Lee not being a total disaster in the SB than by anything I have ever seen from Underwood.

Everyone was all confident in Lee and Underwood before the season. I thought it was our achilles heal. We lucked out with Shields becoming a player right out of the gates. Had that not happened, our pass defense would have been what it was this year and we might not have even made the playoffs. One undrafted player panning out can mean the difference between 9-7 and SB champs.

I don't have much hope for Underwood, Bush or Lee. We could use another backup corner that shows some skill and talent (not just talent.)

Lee's not going anywhere. Even though he didn't see the field until the SB, MM made some comments that he's made great progress this season at CB.

Underwood can go for all I care.

I think TT's minimum height for a CB is 5-11, the roster bears it out: Bell is 5-11, Bush is 6-0, Gordy is 5-11, Lee is 6-0, Shields is 5-11, Underwood is 6-1, Williams is 5-11, Woodson is 6-1. He said last year after the draft, when asked why he didn't take a CB (remember the Arizona game was still fresh in our minds), that he had a minimum height requirement for cornerbacks and there was never a guy he liked near the top of his board when he picked.

So I'm almost entirely certain that TT wouldn't draft all 5'9 1/2" of Brandon Harris, but wouldn't have a problem taking a flyer on either the 5'11 3/4" Chimdi Checkwa or 5'11 5/8" Brandon Burton, for example.

He'd be well served to lower it to 5'10 1/2". There are plenty of good/great 5'10" corners. Here is the heights of the probowl players from this year:

I think 5'11" is the ideal height for a corner. It's short enough that they can have the change of direction and agility to play out in space yet tall enough to play the ball in the air. There aren't many guys over 6' who have the agility to play corner in the NFL. If you're waiting for those types only you're going to end up with a bunch of Will Blackmon's, Pat Lee's and Brandon Underwoods because they meet the requirement yet there are so few who are over 6' who can play they happen to end up sucking ass.

If Thompson can adjust that by 1/2" he'd open himself up to a lot of great players.

Lee and Underwood are still better options than Bush. IMO Bush is only effective at blitzing.

This year? No need. There are only two CBs invited to the combine between 5104 and 5110: Shareece Wright of USC, and Johnny Patrick of Louisville.

I like Harrell's standards. I think if you're going to go that route then you have to really check out a guy's athletic ability; verts and broad jumps are important. Tramon can get up and Shields, well, maybe not as much but he's usually in great position.

Buckley just doesn't even fit a character type that TT would seem to go after. Even Carroll. I can't imagine either of those guys worked as hard in the film room as Tramon and Sam.

Agree about Underwood. I think Lee still has a chance if he can stay healthy. Bush is a quality ST guy who should be no better than 5th on the depth chart at CB. TT needs to draft a quality CB, which, strangely, he hasn't been able to do yet. This is the one position where he's gotten it done in free agency more than the draft.
